Hello all,
What I'm working with is a cold storage room attached to a basement. Done two successful grows in the room so far, but want to really step it up a notch and do it right now. Currently have a 400w HPS, but will be buying a 1000w in the next few days. What I'm looking to do is a soil SCROG under the 1000w, but build and prepare now to switch to hydro (using a grow tent and the 400w to give hydro a trial run). Looking at SCROG to hopefully increase yield, but more so because of a very limited headspace, which maxes out at about 5'.

The top drawing shows full dimensions of the room, the bottom shows how my headspace changes and is limited. Its a dirt floor and I might be able to dig out a little more, but am trying to avoid doing so. I have almost 8' of length from the left side wall to where the 5'' pipe head is, with that 8' run having consistent 5' headspace. My thought was doing a 4'x4' or 4'x6' screen flush up against the back wall, but with 2' of clearance between screen and left side wall. That will allow full access to the front and both sides, and limited to no access to the back - but I feel like I have to just work with the room I have available. With what will hopefully be my last soil grow for a while, the plan is 4 clones from a greenhouse seeds super lemon haze mother in 7 gallon square pots.
The ultimate plan is to build a small false floor to level everything out, allow for easy gravity aided draining when switched to DWC hydro buckets, and to allow us to run an air duct below and bring fresh air going up into the canopy from below. The plan for tomorrow is to insulate the walls, put up some treated plywood over that and paint it flat white. Following that is starting on the false floor, with all treated wood again.
Anyone have any recommend changes, don't do's or anything else at all helpful? Any comments are welcome, want to do this the best we can!
