Need Advice for a Flower Tent

Hey y'all,

In the market for a tent and hoping for some input. I have done some poking around the stickied threads and will continue to do so but I figured I'd throw out a post for a more immediate response.

I'm on my first grow and my plants are in week 3 of veg so I'm looking to put them in flower within the next month or so. They are currently vegging on the floor of a room in my house under a T5. I plan to put a tent in the same room so I can have a constant flow of seedlings/vegs and blooms going on inside the tent.

The area I have to work with for the tent is roughly 4x10x8. I own the house and live alone but I really don't want my house stinking like cannabis so I do plan to use a carbon filter. I just need help on where to go from here. Let's start with saying my budget is $500.00 USD but variable (this includes tent, carbon filter, venting/cooling, and lighting).

What are some quality set-ups I should start looking at? Appreciate any direction.

P.S., I live in the northeastern USA.

Thanks for the suggestions, Justinsbudzzz. I already have nutes and medium. The plants are 70 days from seed and already in 5 gallon pots (I don't plan to go any bigger). Also, the $500 budget is just a baseline. I can go higher if needed. I don't want to cheap out but I also don't need top of the line industrial equipment so I'm just trying to strike a balance. Thanks again.

I think the first question to ask is how much weed do you want and then tailor the flowering space to provide it. A 4x10 room will yield a huge amount of weed and require a lot of work to maintain. Do you really want that much and is it legal to have that many plants where you are? I know I've thought many times about increasing the size of my grow space, but I keep coming back to the fact that I don't need any more weed and don't want the hassle. It's a fun hobby, so it's easy to get swept away.

So here's my shopping cart so far:

iPower 6 Inch 442 CFM Inline Fan Carbon Filter 25 Feet Ducting Combo with Variable Speed Controller and Rope Hanger for Grow Tent Ventilation

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D8RMSJ8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

iPower 1000 Watt HPS MH Digital Dimmable Grow Light System Kits Air Cooled Reflector Hood Set

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005F6BI1Y/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

iPower 96"x48"x78" 4'x8' Hydroponic Mylar Grow Tent with Observation Window, Tool Bag and Floor Tray for Grow Light and Indoor Plant Growing

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BHB4V94/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

The only thing missing are cooling fans and ducts to get for the light. I don't really know what I'm looking for here in terms of quality, fan speed, etc. I would appreciate suggestions.

Also, please comment on the shopping list. Thanks.

Edit: The grand total is $481.19 so far (I also picked up a few other knick knacks like another hygrometer, hanging cables, etc.).

Edit 2: Could also use some advice on oscellating fans

Can't you just use the ipower fan you're already buying to cool the lights? Put the filter on one side of the light, and the fan on the other side, pulling, with a passive intake. Put the fan outside the tent if you can, to save space.

Forgive me if that was your plan already, but it wasn't clear to me from your post. Is that what you mean by "cooling fans"? A fan to pull through the air cooled hood? Seems like a couple of oscillating fans are the only things left to get as far as fans go.

I'd probably just put two air cooled 1000w hps lights in the space and skip the tent. And grab an 8 in/ 10 inch hyper fan/ac Infinity cloudline fan with a phresh filter. Grab some panda plastic or reflectix for the walls and call it a day.

A 48 inch tent in a 48 inch space would be a pain in the dick to get together in there as well.

I love the idea, but he is on a budget, and although I think the AC Infinity cloudline fans are the best bang for the buck (and they use really low wattage too), they are not the cheapest option, and phresh filters are one of the most expensive. That's exactly the setup I would go for if there was more wiggle room on the budget though.

Where did you see a fan that I was buying? The only fan in my shopping cart is for the carbon filter. But yes, that is what I mean by cooling fan...for the light fixture. It doesn't come with one as far as I can tell.

I had considered doing that as well when I was first setting up the grow room. But I want to have plants vegging on 18x6 outside the tent so I can have plants blooming on 12x12 inside the tent. That way, I always have a steady flow of harvest.

Edit: Also, the space is not 48 inches exactly. The entire room itself is 10x15 feet and 8 foot ceilings but half of it has my veg area. Sorry if I my original post wasn't clear.

The $500 budget is self-imposed so don't get too hung up on it. I have been known to ignore my own rules if it helps me avoid future headaches or if the quality of the product is just so good that buying anything less would be considered pound foolish.

Thanks all for the replies so far.

I'd go in a similar direction as what @PrometheanLeaf has recommended. @adrenalytic why do you need a tent?
