need a word from the wise!!!!

how many lumens to get a 1 pound yield in a small area? i have a 3ft wide almost 4 ft tall lil grow room i built. im cloning my clones in it right now under 2 60 w agrosun bulbs hoping my clones will root this is my personal first time growing indoors. i cant afford a high electricity bill so im using cfls i was thinking about getting 3 300w equavilant cfl bulbs 2700k would this be enough for my small area to reach my goal or naa??? any thoughts count!

Because it's a stupid question... Lumens are a measurement of visible light and plants don't have eyes... you want to go on PAR ratings if you want to be pedantic.

For 1, NEVER go by 'equivalent watts' ALWAYS go by actual watts.

For 2, I would grab 4x 125 (actual watt) bulbs to get a decent amount of spread and be able to put more plants under them. But then for that price you could get a HPS system and a cool shade which would penetrate a LOT better (have a look at my grow in my sig if you want to see a small dimension HPS grow) Oh AND with 4x 125's you'll be shelling out the same on electricity pretty much as a 400w HPS so factor that into your grow.

There are too many variables to say, I've seen 1lb from a 400w HPS in a Screen of Green I've also seen 1lb from 3kw grows just flowering out mature plants as usual. You could get 1lb with 3x 250w (actual watt) CFL's at a push imho oh and on your first grow you definately wont get 1lb from that, and that's not bashing them or you, CFL's have their purpose and are brilliant but they lack the penetration needed to properly bulk up a lot of bud, I have managed 3 oz from 1 plant with 250w of CFL and that was my 3rd or 4th grow and I'm still dialling it in, but have since upgraded to a 250w HPS...

If you want to yield that much with those CFL's I'd say you would have to do a ScrOG and properly think about placement for maximum spread, and I mean research like hell! You want them as close as possible (within 2-3 inches) to the plant tops with adequate ventilation. Your veg time would have to be a good 8-12 weeks top them several times and train the shit out of them, and if your lucky, you might reach your goal! Not saying your a shit grower or anything but the first time is the learning experience, you can't go out there and say I want to yield X amount of oz's and get there (unless you only say I want 1oz XD) or do what I did and go in with a ball park of say 3-4oz and prepare for months before you actually set up, I've spent more time reading that I have growing (and more reading while they're growing).

And finally, maybe give more info about your space, dimensions, location in house, etc.

If you want more specifics, or have better questions I'll be around, but there are a LOT of variables to consider, and 20 views without a reply is nothing mate, chill out and have some patience, because if you don't have that, you definitely wont reach your target.

i dont think u will reach that goal for two reasons1.not enough light wattage 2.its your first time growing indoors.not saying its not poss just saying i cant see it!

just a question iv seen sum pretty amazing things an forsure so im gnna go buy 3 55watt warm white bulbs instead of the 68s cuz i can always add more later if i feel i need to an thanks for the replys im gnna try to get more light output into my box an ill put up pics to keep r.u posted

Well your not going to get any where near your goal with that, maybe 1-2oz.

U need the daylight bulbs for veg..

Not necessarily, if your on a budget, red CFL's will do perfectly well, just as you can veg solely under a HPS, the difference is negligible.

i kno 6500k for veg an 2700k for flower but i figure if i tie branches down suppercrop my clones and just keep it at equal height with my box when they flowered i would have a decent yield i keep my temp warm during the day at mid 80s and night mid 70s. and for my clones i have made a lil 7up can an 160z water bottle dome setup i put the clones in outside dirt mixed with epsom salt cuz i heard it has magnisium an sulfate which are both good for rooting an now im just leaving them under 2 60 watt agrosun bulbs cuz they make alot of heat alot of ppl disagree with using these bulbs but im gonna wait and see what happens i hope they root i have 2 hawaiin skunks,2 northern lights x haze x skunk, & and 2 unknown female strains ill put pics up soon

Like I said, maybe 1-2 oz, you still haven't given us dimensions etc.

Too late now but next time don't use outside dirt, too many contaminants and potential bugs, if you must budget by using outdoor dirt you need to bake it for a few hours, and that will stink like hell but kill all the bad shit in it... and don't mix epsom salt into it, that stuff will screw the PH of the soil if you don't know the base PH to adjust then I wouldn't add anything that would mess it up.

To root clones it helps a LOT if you had some rooting hormone, either powder or gel, they can take anything up to 4 weeks to root without them, with hormone they can root in 5-15 days (2 weeks max I've found).

As for heat from the agrosun bulbs, so long as the room temps are around 23-27*C they should be alright.

Have a watch of the Jorge Cervantes grow videos here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxBHCyXruXM&feature=fvsr

Even experienced growers still learn from these so don't shrug it of as a load of crap.
