My old account was... compromised. But here I am. I still need to run electricity and figure out the PC fans and power supply, but after that its grow time again. I can go into details on how I built this if anyone really wants to. Otherwise just know that it was all by hand.

I was thinking if you didn't want to go 250w mh/hps go with a 2' T5HO or a led would be even cooler for that small space. Of course I don't know how good those led lights are.

I wish I could afford LED. Its too hot in my place to do anything but CFL right now. maybe for a winter rotation I could do a 250w. but right now I have to stick with the CFL.
 
dam johnny, real good to hear from ya. the box looks awesome man, bet you cant wait to start growing in it. yeah my grows doing great, ive been real happy with my results. here a couple pics of the power supply i use from a desktop. the key to make these things work is the green wire, i cut it from the connector and plugged it in to a black ground wire and that will give you power all the time, if you dont do this with the green wire, it wont work. the flat 4 prong plugs are your 12v power for your fans, should be 4 of those, the red wire are only 5v but will still you power, just wont turn the fan as fast. hope all this makes sence, LoL. and helps. you said laptop, not sure if its same, but should be. im in sw florida and its been ok here with the ac on, box has been staying at 86. any ways, good to see you back!!

thanks man. I appreciate the little tutorial. I ordered a universal laptop charger that has a slider for voltage on it. I thought it would be great for adjusting the speed, but when I got it I noticed the thing starts at 16v. The guy that recommended it told me it would power up to six, but hes been pinched so I may have to get a power supply from a desktop. If I could find one that had a variable from say 6 to 9 to 12 that would be great. and easy. the search continues. I did pick up 6 fans for like $10 on ebay so thats legit.
 
hey thats cool, any way to make it work, LoL. i didnt even think about the thrift store for the 12v adapters, killer idea. that was a good link to man, thanks.
 
got my fans all mounted. I tried using a 15v 3 amp universal laptop charger, got all the wires stripped and fixed, but the damn things too loud. I got that adapter on eBay for like $10 but cant find one with lower voltage for cheaper. So I picked up one at WalMart that goes from 3v-12v. It is only 1.3 amps though. My fans are .3 each. So, looks like I will only be running four fans. Which is probably enough. Premade boxes of this size only use three, and theyre smaller than the ones Ive got.

I cant fucking wait to put some beans in this thing. A friend of mine was in town and we used up the rest of my last grow. I have like 6 pills left, (Which I totally Recommend. Theyre awesome. I pop two and I am feeling good for about 5 hours.)...

hopefully I get this shit straightened out soon.
 
got the new adapter setup. its got a variable voltage slider. So far 7.5 seems to be putting out enough air at a reasonable decibel. I am thinking of just getting a clock radio and having it on all the time to the news. They will only be running from 8p-8a so I dont think its a problem. Now I just need to get the carbon filters tacked in on the inside and tack some felt around the inside lip in the base to stop the light leak. Hopefully get some seeds germinating by sunday. Just need to find my thermometer to check the temps. no idea where it is. :peace::peace::peace::peace:

cannabis pills. I made them with ground herb and coconut oil. I have colitis, so they really kick ass. I dont remember which how to I used. but you just steep the herb in the oil on the stove for a few hours then put your green oil in vegetable capsules.

I am about to get rid of the light leaks and then run to the store for another thermometer. If the temps are decent in the box, nothing about 90 then I think I will germinate today. By the time it really matters, I hope the ambient temp will be lower.
 
Everything is good. Temps at 88 during the hottest part of the day. I plan on veging for two weeks then running 12-12 with lights from 8-8.4 seeds germing in papertowel. Hopefully get two females like last time.
 
so if you run the lights at night, 8pm to 8am, will the temps be lower? cant wait to see the seeds pop. what kind are they? the cannabis pills sound pretty cool, good idea.

You can also just use a jumper from the green to black on the connector. Small paper clip works well and tape it.

The cannabis pills are my new favorite way to get my herb on. The high is subtle at one pill and is great for pain. Two and Youre feeling pretty good. Three and you've got a medium buzz for at least three hours. It probably depends on strength of the herb. http://www.stonerforums.com/lounge/food-drinks/3983-home-made-thc-pills.html is a decent how to. I used the oven. You can get it up to just below the temp that thc evaporates at which is something like 350. Stirring often. When the coconut oil turns dark green youre golden. You can also use olive oil and some people use fish oil.


As for running at night, I can get the temps almost ten degrees cooler. Or that was when I was growing in my bathroom anyway. But mostly its for added security I guess. I am always home during those hours and there is a little bit light leak that I cannot control at the moment. I guess I need to work on a light trap... but the air intake at the bottom is always open. kind of a conundrum, but As of now with the felt along the inside bottom there is very little light leak and its all in the back. I guess we will see how it goes. But I am happy with the temps as of right now.
