I went to go check the pH in my water and I noticed that Cheese and Sensi Star's roots were kinda brownish. The tube for the air stone was covered in a dark red fiber-like stuff and then towards the top there was a white slime. I took it off with my fingers and it collected kind of chunky. It appears as if it would be slimy but when I rubbed it between my fingers it had more of a plaque like texture. Like the plaque on your teeth, not mine. gross. Anyways, headband's tube and airstone were clean and free from red fiber stuff. But had white slime/plaque shit on the tube towards the lid.
I used to maintain pools and I do not think the red fibers are algae or bacteria. I think the red color comes from the fact that a couple expanded clay pellets got into to water and some fibers from the rockwool too. The fibers accumulated on the tube and then the color from the clay and the FloraGrow.
I read that the FloraGrow can cause the roots to become darker.
I know the white slime that has a texture of plaque is some sort of bacteria or algae. There is no light entering the buckets so IDK. Im thinking I should use Hydrogen Peroxide to kill it off and wipe down all the chunks.
Here are some pictures but also a link to my journal which has the details of my operation. https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/320595-started-flowering-clones-dwc-2.html
that was cheese's roots
this is a photo of an accumulation of the redish fiber-like substance on cheese's air-stone
sensi star's roots
HEADBAND'S HEALTHY ? ROOTS
headband's clean airstone
Even with a fucked up monitor I can tell that the one photo of sensi star's roots that had the flash on has the best overall color so I should go take photos of the roots with the flash on...stand by
