My thoughts on LED....

OK, so I wanted to kind of get things out there in terms of LED's and the aspect of growing completely under them.

So yeah, back in the days (1980's) NASA experimented with LED's to see if they could grow with them. Low and behold THEY COULD! Just that they realized they needed the blue spectrum as they were using strictly RED... like really NASA? Now the thing that they were missing was weight/density. They COULD NOT harvest sufficient fruits/veggies.. Key word here is weight. How do you suppose you spend a SHIT TON of money on LED's just to grow an insufficient amount of food in outer space? Talk about fucking yourself in the ass here... So, more experiments later they realize "Fuck man, we need some intensity or we are going to starve out in space" Not an exact quote but I can see them saying something along the lines of this.

Anyways, back to a point I wanted to make. LED's STILL have a LOOOOONG way to go before the commercial market will produce high intensity LED's. They LOVE raping you all of CASH! So while you shell out money for LED's (more so WASTE money) you need to realize there are KEY factors to growing sufficient fruits/veggies... Not only do you NEED to mimic the sun you also need INTENSITY! LED's are NO WHERE NEAR that in term's of 4 watt LED's. I'm thinking more like 15 watts JUST to get some pretty FAT carrots and hefty potatoes. As you see from some grows in this section they CLEARLY lack weight/density using STRICTLY LED's... Yeah sure, they LOOK nice and can grow but what is the point in investing nearly $500 (for personal grows JUST on a LED panel) just to get a crappy harvest in terms of yield? There need's to be a balance here! So my advise, STOP BEING A GUINEA PIG AND THROWING YOUR HARD EARNED CASH AT THESE FOOLS AND STICK TO WHAT WORKS! Hid's AND CFL's... you can say what you want (I know you will defend your company to the death) but you have not fooled me...

I say this because I myself looked into LED's and the SAME THING I keep hearing over and over is how LONG they last... That is IT! Really, they last long? Oh gee! I can have lights that last me 5+ years! But how long do these panels last? Maybe 1 year? Maybe a lot less? Why are some journals half finished? Doesn't that strike you as odd as fuck? Did the users house burn down due to faulty components? Come on people... Stop being naive as fuck and spend the month or so RESEARCHING AND ASKING QUESTIONS! If you get a run around and/or IN DIRECT answers then you are CLEARLY better off else where... Stick with WHAT WORKS and has been working.

If you remember in the PAST high times advertised the FUCK out of those UFO lights and we all know they suck donkey dick... YET they STILL produce them... WOW!!
Stick to what works... Because I will.

you ignorant rant hasn't fooled mne either. I've seen well enough with my own eyes. its may have taken 90 some odd years to get led's right ( led's were invernted in the 20's). they do work very well.

Please show me an hps bulb and digi ballast that lasts 5 years with out any degrading..

Not defending shit here man but I've seen a lot of evidence of them working for both veg & flower. My personal experience is just my sativa seedlings in their first week but I'll let you know how it goes. Sounds like you're angry about something, go hit the pipe and chill a bit!

Yeah obviously you don't know if the poster is moving that plant into another room with HID's or something... it's happened before.. it's all marketing. Open your eyes

uuuhhh it was my own grow and I'm not irish boy or from kushington farms. I' have side by sides in my journal entries

lol wtf is with all these threads. I'm using just 2700k Philips bulbs, ALL GROW, and you wouldn't believe how compact it is, not to mention the huge buds at day 32 flower. Definitely looks as good if not better than any 250w HPS grow I've seen at day 32. And I know my light bulbs are nowhere near the quality of some of these LEDs out there.

Not sure what you're so pissed about man, maybe that your electricity bil is higher than led growers or some shit. Live and let live. There's a shitload of happy people using LEDs and growing great herb

I have no dog in this fight except to prove that diy LEDs grow bug dank buds and help other growers achieve that for the lowest cost possible. We are down to $1.50-$2/W.

Any grower that is not using LED for veg is missing out. I stand by that statement because I use 60W equivalent LED to veg for 2400W equivalent HPS. Do you think I am moving these plants around everytime?

If I was using anymore intensity I would be out of vertical space. First week in the flowering room:

As for flowering, here are some buds grown with (dozens) of 2W LEDS. Many of use are now using 25-50W LEDs.

also, I CLEARLY said this "I say this because I myself looked into LED's and the SAME THING I keep hearing over and over is how LONG they last... That is IT! Really, they last long? Oh gee! I agree!! Just some are WAYYY too naive to see FACT for FACT.

Happy, but very naive. Give them a HID with CFL's supplementing the room and watch them shit bricks and thank you forever...

But those buds are TINY!!

What is this guy's motivation other than starting a flame war? You aren't helping anyone, so no reason for you to come here and attempt a flame war.

Seriously what is with the influx of these die-hard LED haters in the last couple days? They remind me of the spectacularly ignorant, short-sighted nay-sayers who thought the internet was just a passing fad.

Report this guy for trolling/flaming. Nuff said.

Starting a flame war or strictly spreading my opinions with a bit of truth? I think you need to RE read my first post

and YES I AM helping people as I am SPREADING facts! Don't be all butt hurt just because you do not agree... that is what kids do and we are ADULTS!

Side by side, with what? T5 HO maybe, HID, forget about it. Done it, been there. LED is simply another lighting system, that's main claim to fame is low heat, could fit in a small space and energy consumed. Penetration blows, as does dispersion of light. If I had 4' length to work within a space, I would go T5 VHO. Not simply HO but VHO. Check out the specs you will be impressed. LED works, but it definitely is not the best. HID, VHO t5, and last in my opinion is LED, not counting cfl's,

YES I AM helping people as I am SPREADING facts!

You are only spreading sophistry, not facts. Your history and facts are both generated on false assumptions and inaccurate information. Your personal observations are in no way scientific.

Someone is bummed they didn't get a valentine in class today.

Nice grow man but it would be twice as dense with HID imo.
