OK, so I wanted to kind of get things out there in terms of LED's and the aspect of growing completely under them.
So yeah, back in the days (1980's) NASA experimented with LED's to see if they could grow with them. Low and behold THEY COULD! Just that they realized they needed the blue spectrum as they were using strictly RED... like really NASA? Now the thing that they were missing was weight/density. They COULD NOT harvest sufficient fruits/veggies.. Key word here is weight. How do you suppose you spend a SHIT TON of money on LED's just to grow an insufficient amount of food in outer space? Talk about fucking yourself in the ass here... So, more experiments later they realize "Fuck man, we need some intensity or we are going to starve out in space" Not an exact quote but I can see them saying something along the lines of this.
Anyways, back to a point I wanted to make. LED's STILL have a LOOOOONG way to go before the commercial market will produce high intensity LED's. They LOVE raping you all of CASH! So while you shell out money for LED's (more so WASTE money) you need to realize there are KEY factors to growing sufficient fruits/veggies... Not only do you NEED to mimic the sun you also need INTENSITY! LED's are NO WHERE NEAR that in term's of 4 watt LED's. I'm thinking more like 15 watts JUST to get some pretty FAT carrots and hefty potatoes. As you see from some grows in this section they CLEARLY lack weight/density using STRICTLY LED's... Yeah sure, they LOOK nice and can grow but what is the point in investing nearly $500 (for personal grows JUST on a LED panel) just to get a crappy harvest in terms of yield? There need's to be a balance here! So my advise, STOP BEING A GUINEA PIG AND THROWING YOUR HARD EARNED CASH AT THESE FOOLS AND STICK TO WHAT WORKS! Hid's AND CFL's... you can say what you want (I know you will defend your company to the death) but you have not fooled me...
I say this because I myself looked into LED's and the SAME THING I keep hearing over and over is how LONG they last... That is IT! Really, they last long? Oh gee! I can have lights that last me 5+ years! But how long do these panels last? Maybe 1 year? Maybe a lot less? Why are some journals half finished? Doesn't that strike you as odd as fuck? Did the users house burn down due to faulty components? Come on people... Stop being naive as fuck and spend the month or so RESEARCHING AND ASKING QUESTIONS! If you get a run around and/or IN DIRECT answers then you are CLEARLY better off else where... Stick with WHAT WORKS and has been working.
If you remember in the PAST high times advertised the FUCK out of those UFO lights and we all know they suck donkey dick... YET they STILL produce them... WOW!!
Stick to what works... Because I will.
