My plants are looking burnt around the edges. please help thank you

The edges of my plants are getting burnt and drying up to crisp. I have a 400w mh on them and its about 2 and a half feet away from the tops of the plants now. I also have a 2 tube 40w t5 fixture in their but that doesnt have much heat. 2 of the plants are 11 days old(these 2 are the ones who get burnt) and i have a seedling that is only 3 days from sprout. If anyone could help with some advice id greatly appreciate it. this is my first time growing indoors.

Until they are over a foot high, you should just use a 40-80w fluorescent, my 2 cents

Me thinks time to transplant. Youre not giving them nutes are you?

ok-- need to know-- what kind of soil & nutes? How often do you water & with what kind of water?
Do you check the pH when you water?

It is not the lights- it is either a lack of P-K or a nutrient lock-up from a pH problem or over feeding...
MANY people use T5's (IMO best bet) For vegging-- and many use MH religiously (I personally did not like them- and switched after a year of weaker than usual grows- but fixtures that can use a wide-spectrum bulb work well..NOT single spectrums!)...

as long as you are keeping the room temps even and fans blowing the air around-- heat is not the issue... the damage from lights would be the tops of the plants, not around the edges.... and heat would be the whole leaf and look dehydrated...

More info plz-- then can help you get this straightened out...
in the meantime-- flush them with some bottled (filterd) water.... and make SURE there is adequate drainage in the bottoms of those cups!!!

Looks like nutrient burn to me but to really help you we need.

(1) Give images under metal halide or incandescent (no hps).
(2) Give complete synopsis in one post telling us all the details.
(a) substrate
(b) nutrients
(c) additives
(d) age
(e) strain
(f) environment
(g) miscellaneous

Now you will have a chance of getting meaningful support because most people here would like to help you. Unfortunately without this info all we are doing is guessing. If you decide to use the wrong guess you may end up potless.

Use Jiffy seed starter mix in the future. Light warrior is good too. Overly wet can cause leaves to crap up too.

They are in fox farms happy frog. I water when the soil is dry 2 inches down. The strain is amnesia bilbo. I dont have a digital thermometer or humidity measurer yet but it is about 70-80 degrees in the tent. The pictures I posted are with the metal halide light on. and again Im using 400watt mh with two 4 foot 40watt t5 tubes. The only thing I would think it would be is the 400w mh was too close to the baby plants. or the humidity level is too low(air too dry with too much heat)?
