my ph meter fucked up and said 6.5. I adjusted and it said 4.0. uhhh. I did an analog test with a liquid tester kit and it's 4.5 or so... I can go buy pH up tomorrow. but will they be okay until then? they'll be fed this reservoir twice through the night on E&F... otherwise wondering if there's an emergency move I should pull. will they be okay for a night??

You can't blame a meter when you don't care for it. PH meters should be calibrated often. I leave the food in the kitchen. If you're in soil there should be some buffers in there. If you're in hydro you better hurry up. You could also mix up so more water with just enough nutes to allow you to PH water properly to the correct PH and water it again. There will be run off but that's what you need.

fair enough thanks for the info. I am in hydro. ebb n flow.

I can't help you with hydro but there's much less room for error. Good news is you should be shooting for 5.5 so it's a point closer to good. You know what I'd correct the PH and turn the pump on and flood it an extra time today. Like right now. And then stay on top of it.

I just noticed in your first post you said you thought it was 6.5. That's not where hydro should be 5.5 is optimal.

Funny I just notice this is the first time I've grabbed that chart off the net and it shows 5.8 for hydro. Just pointing it out because I said 5.5 before. And that's what I understand to be correct. And if you notice a particular nutrient you're lacking adjust the PH to make that nutrient available can be used to speed up deficiency.

I put some of my RO wastewater in there (begrudgingly) and pulled some of the res water out just to balance it out. pH shot up with just 3 gallons of RO waste water from 3.8 to 6.1. gross. but highly effective. can't believe it got that low. pH meter is calibrated too, professor.

thanks yes I know about 5.5-5.8. that's why I put pH down in when it said 6.5. :)

thanks that chart is helpful.

Nutes in hydro can get away from you fast. I know that from reading. As far as hydro goes it's the life blood. You get far enough off and the plant can't get what it needs. Good luck.

You'll be fine if you get it back, it's happened to me once or twice and if I fix it within 24 hours I haven't noticed a problem. Now this could be image.jpeg just checked the girls and the flood pump had quit last night I assume :(. Pretty sure they'll recover and I'll post a pic tonight just to show how resilient these plants are :).

I bet you'll be fine too. I swear you really have to try to kill them. lol

image.jpeg It's alive :) so op just goes to show you'll be surprised at what you can fuck up and still have a successful grow. I spent 3 years after starting hydro thinking my plants were going to die lol. Been close but always brought em back lol. Sure I lost a bit of growth on this one though :(

I have found in my setup that yes if nutrient levels get to high it can impact the plant rather quickly but PH is a bit less critical and you have some time to get it under control. The biggest help for me as a hydro newb is note taking. I am at the point now that I know pretty much the amount to add to get desired levels and 12 hours after refilling and checking, very rarely do I have to adjust. Using well water can be a pain because mine changes through out the year re EC and PH.
