Ok, I have 12 little ones, and they have been growing really good. But here let me elaborate.
When I first began to grow them, I honestly didnt think they'd actually grow so I kinda just put some backyard soil in a pot and stuck a few in that. Then I put 2 in nothing but water. And kept some aside(didnt plant them).
Well, the ones in the water actually started to sprout a bit. But I was worried about drowning them. And I started to worry about the ones I buried in the backyard soil, because this soil was nearly clay like. So I CAREFULLY broke apart the bad soil and got out the seeds. To my surprise a few had actually broke open and was starting to sprout. (I was VERY careful not to hurt them as I took them out of the soil). So I had read online about germinating the seeds by sticking them in a moist towel or whatnot. So I did that, and I also did that to the ones I had in the water because I was afraid of drowning them. I still kept a lot of water around them, to keep them moist. I stuck them in the sun, so they could get some light energy, and went to the store to buy REAL pots and soil and such.
Well, when I got back, ALL the water had dried up and my seeds were nearly burnt!! The little sprouts were dried. I figured they were dead, and that there was no hope for them left, but I still planted them in the good soil, and watered them every day. I also planted the others that I had saved back. After a few days, to my surprise EVERY SINGLE ONE of them had sprouted, and was looking GREAT. I was quite happy to be honest. This whole time I had kept them in the sunlight, and watered them nearly every day.
Well, I started getting worried about overwatering them, so I backed off of that. Not only that, but I decided to try to sit them a little back further in the shade so no one would see them on my back pourch. Well, they were ok for a few days, but just TODAY I went to check on them, and sure enough, a few had fell over!! They are still green, but their stems are very weak.
One thing I was not sure about was I DID start using miracle grow(but I was VERY careful not to use too much) a couple days ago.
Well, freaked out about my plants (Which are still quite small, they all only have 4 little leaves) wilting, I decided to go ahead and re-pot the bigger ones in a bigger pot. And stick them all back in the sun. I gave all of them more soil and stuck something in the soil to try to help them stand up(twist tie things).
SO Now you all know the whole story, let me get to my questions:
Should I STOP watering them with Miracle grow? If I do, will they perk back up?
Or was it the SUN? Because they were used to being in the sun, and I stuck them in the shade?
OR Was it because I didnt water them every day like I used to?
And is tie-ing them up with a twisty(quite loosely, Im not trying to strangle them!) a good idea or not?
Or is it because the weather has been slightly too cool for them?
Someone PLEASE help, as this is my FIRST time ever growing and I really dont want to lose these newborns!!
