My Lowes Grow Cabinet/help with curling leaves

Wassup guys and gals,

I know its been a while and I'd asked a million and one questions. But now it's time that I finally finished my grow room the other week. Still making minor adjustments, because this is my first grow cabinet. Well to tell the history of how I made it.....

Well first of all I went to Lowes and bought the 48" wide cabinet. which costed me about 140 bucks. 48" White Multi-Purpose Storage Cabinet

So the next step I went to research more and more on the lights. I ended getting for the reflector the super sun 2 - 6 inch air cooled reflector, sun system 10 switchable ballast, and a reg sylvania MH bulb. I bought a CMH bulb also from another website. Total cost 290 bucks.

For the ventilation system I purchased 4 computer fans which, push or pull about 54 cfm's. I also have another computer fan as an duct fan sucking the hot air from the light. I also purchased a fan from walmart, which in total costed me about 60 bucks.

Now as you can see in the picture that I used the top level to hold all the electrical shit, and stuff related to the cabinet on the top. The one thing that bothers me, is that the ballast gets hot and I think it makes the cabinet a little warmer. So I don't know wether to put the ballast on the top of my cabinet stealthily or should I just leave it on the top shelf in the cabinet.

But there's my cabinet.

Before cabinet was made:

Now for Runt Jr., she's a survivor. She germinated little before christmas, so I planted her in regular potting soil with no nutes with a CFL light. She sprouted up fast, and strong. The only thing, in a couple of days it was going to be christmas and friend had to plant watch. Like an ass, he pretty much neglected my plant giving her minimal light, and overwatering her. So when I picked her up, she was so stressed. The leaves weren't coming out right and the growth was slow. Later when I finally got her soil almost dry, she started to perk. Now she was doing fine, and I tried topping her,and I accidently cut off a fan leaf and one of the new shoots were one of the two tops were going to come out. Never do it stoned again. But anyhow's I went on a short trip again, but left it at my place and watered her before I left. When I came back she grew but was touching the CFL lights. So some of her tips were burnt from touching the lamp and curling.

After cabinet was made:

Finally I finished the cabinet recently, and she's been inside for about 1.5 weeks. So I put her in the new cabinet and found that she started curling a lot. I don't know the main reason why her tips started to curl, but I figured it was time to get some nutes. So I picked up some fox farm potting soil and some ff grow big nutes. I transplanted her into a bigger pot, and now she's starting to spot with yellow and a couple of leaves are dying. I really don't know what the problem is, but I'm trying to eliminate everything possible. Could it be heat? Shock to HPS light? Overwatering? Lack of Nutes? Please help me so, I can continue my grow journal. Your input is much needed.

FYI: I don't know what kind of strain runt j is but she smells good!

haha. That Runt Jr. story was priceless... Just goes to show, this shit will grow no matter what!

Looks like lack of nutrients to me. Give her a feeding of some type of grow nutrient (I forget what you said you had). Give her a good soak when giving the nutrients, then let her dry out, then water again!

She will spruce right up.

PS. you should plant a few more seeds!! You have the room. I didn't see you say if you had anymore plants but there is enough room.

thanks for the comments!

Should I still give her nutes, because when I just transplanted her into the Fox Farm Ocean mix it actually has natural nutes in it. Is this nutes, not that strong? If not I want to give her some of the Grow Big by Fox Farm nute. Will I be giving her to much nutes. I took some pictures from the past days. I'll be taking daily pictures to be posted on my journal. I'm working on germinating some seeds today, hopefully I can get 4 more going for the legal amount here in Hawaii. thanks!

move the light down. it's too far from plant.

How much more close, only reason why I have it so high is for the heat factor and I want her to stretch higher, she's a little short that's why, hence that's why I call her runt. lol

thanks for the comments!!!

Wassup yall,

Here's some progress pictures that I took yesterday and today. It was looking good yesterday, but today she started to droop again. I think maybe it's lack of water but, the soil below the top soil is a little damp. But the top soil is dry as fudge. I don't want to over water her. Also heat could be a factor, because it's a little warm in there. I took out the ballast, and that helped getting a lot of the heat out. now my light creates the heat. I have a computer fan sucking out the heat from the light. Do I still have to have a fan blowing air at the light?Ibrings in less cool air then it creates hot. But don't get me wrong, it's not super hot. Please help, so I can keep my journal gowing. Well it' time to burn now. aight

Gave her some nutes and she's all perked up now, so happy. Plus I think she's a she, because more pistols with hairs came out. I'll post up pics later today.

plants are not look as good as they could man... are you pH'ing your water??? adding to much nutes?? remember go from the smallest dosages... More nutes isn't always better. 1/4 dose then 1/2.

1.pH water
2. enviornment controll
3. dont over water!!!

Other than the tips being a lil burned a droopy.. looks great! if you fix those tiny problems.. ( if u didnt already) your plants will look very nice!!

Goodluck man!

hey blonddie07,

thanks for the reply and help. But I figured out what was the problem with Runt, and why she was drooping so much. I found out that she was under watered, because I did not thoroughly water her whole pot well. There was a lot of parts where the soil was completely dry when watering. So I watered her really well and raised the light since it felt a little warm that close. Then the next day she perked right up. I went over on a vacation over the weekend, and had a buddy water her once. When I came back she was a lot larger, and I noticed some buds with hairs coming out. and yes I finally definitely know that Runt J's a female. She smelling really good, but here some pics I took tonight. I couldn't get a close up on the buds, but I know what buds look like, and she definitely has buds!!!!!! yes!!!!

I'll post the pics later cause the server's busy right now, some shiznit like that.

Looking good, have you got an air supply running for them, might help if you got some support for the plant leaning over until she can support herself, you'll dfefn need this when the bud starts to get thick on her.
