my light timer on the aerogarden

no it shouldnt. atleast mines doesnt. the timer should keep running even though you switched it to the on/off setting.

Hobie: the figure "8" cord you showed above from A/G is about ten bucks and it's probably excellent, as most of their stuff is, but you can get one from the 99 cents store's electronics department that will do the same thing. The one at Radio shack is around seven dollars but they all hook you directly to the outlet without any time control unless you pull the plug on insert a time in the line. Harbor Freight Tools has an independent timer that allows you to set what ever schedule you want.

Justin121: Question like this one would be best asked to a customer service rep at A/G. They're surprisingly knowledgeable and their advice is free. It's an 800 number so you're talking to them on their nickel. Don't ask don't tell them you're growing weed. A lot of times they can guess by your questions but as long as you're not blatantly stupid about it they can be a great resource. They too have 'Big Brother' to worry about.
A lot of our advice you have to take with a grain of salt because we have a variety of A/G's. For example mine are five, three and two years old and they're the old style without all the bells and whistles. I did purchase upgrade kits for mine so lighting and height adjustment are a good as it gets but there are a lot of things mine can't do that some of you with the super duper ones can. Just remember when you're talking to A/G that you're growing 'herbs' and they'll do all they can to help you.
