Hello,
It seems to me that translating biblical scripts from ancient Hebrew to English may cause some things to get lost in translation. People literally take the bible word for word when words in ancient Hebrew have multiple or broad meanings. It seems to me like the more they update it trying to use new age language the further it gets from what was originally written. We could be teaching a way of life different from what God wanted for us. It also seems like such a waste constantly updating it to promote sales. Where do all these old bibles go?
Also, when I first started reading the bible I was almost repulsed by it. I felt like it was trying to talk down to me and sell me a fairy tail by how mystical and far fetched everything sounded. I still don't understand how Noah lived that long on the Ark without consuming all the animals for substance. But I told myself it was written to teach the common man of that age about how the world and universe worked; and maybe the ancients did live for hundreds and thousands of years. Noah could quite possibly had rations or a slow metabolism in connection with his slow aging. Nonetheless, don't kill your neighbor or sleep with his wife are great teachings that promote a strong society.
