My Hydroponics

Sorry guys, I already started a thread in the aero section, cause thats the way I was going to go. Shit, I even had all my plumbing at home & everything ready to get glued together.

After doing some research, I've decided I'm going to take the Hydro route.

I'm using a 14 gallon Rubbermaid Roughneck as my res. I bought sprinkler tips & drilled holes into 1 1/2" PVC powered by a 200GPH pond pump. I'm only going to have about 6-8 plants (I didn't drill my holes in the lid yet)

Tomorrow is my day off, so I'm going to be taking a ride to the local Hydroponics shop (YES I FOUND ONE!!!) and getting some net pots, some nutes, some rockwool, and some meters & some medium.

My seedlings are at home now between two paper plates in my closet - 'gettin' their grow on'.

I know there is plent of FAQ threads, but I like to handle my issues on a case by case basis. Hopefully you guys can understand what I mean.

The shop I'm going to has a decent selection of nutes, I'm just unsure of which route to take.

I've heard some good things about B'Cuzz & Fox Farm.

(I know its irrelevant but I'm also going to have a plant or two growing in soil)

Also, for lighting I think I'm going to go with 150 Watt, HPS Agro-Max Bulb - by FloraLux. (includes Ballast & enclosure), or should I go up to 250?

Also, what should my water cycle be like for Hydro? I know with aero you want the pump running 24/7, is Hydroponic the same?

Any extra input you guys can give me, is greatly appreciated.

So on my day off yesterday, I went to Harvest Moon Hydroponics yesterday.

I picked up:

  • GH FloraNova Grow & Bloom
  • PH Test Kit (incl. up & down)
  • Rockwool
  • Hydroton Clay Medium
  • EC Meter
  • MH Light, Ballast & Hood
  • 2 - 2x4" Flourencent T12 Lights
  • Net Pots
  • Mylar
  • Moisture Meter (I'm going to have a few plants in soil also)
I'm sure I've missed something, but regarless I'm just about done with my shopping. I've got some water sitting out at home, that I'm gonna level out the pH and get my rockwool soaked so I can transfer my seeds.

Also, I had 25 seeds and 19 of them germinated.

Not too shabby!

Last nast I got my seedlings put in some rockwool.

I now have 8 seedlings in rockwool, and 6 in peat pots.

Pictures coming later today once I run home and snap some on my lunch break.

Bought some timers today. I have my light on a 15/9 schedule for now.

Once they get some leaves, I'm gonna switch to 24/0.

Bah!

Looks like mice came through and ate all my seedlings except for 1 of em..

The one they didn't take is my oldest, and I've recently come to see it's a girl!!!

Here is the one pic I have of her..

I'm going to be putting her into my Hydro set-up hopefully tonight when I get home..

Thanks,

Nick

Well..the plants looked good while they were in the soil prior to transplant..

Now the leaves are sagging/drooping.

I have a decent size airstone in there, and my pH seems to be spot on (I have a new pH meter coming)..

I noticed this morning one of the leaves has some browning on the edge of it..

Here are pics..

You can see it on the bigger leaf to the right..
