My first grow

stage 1 (seeding)

April 13 planted 1 seed, it’s just a bag seed out of some good weed I had last summer. The seeds I have were in the garage all winter so who knows how it will do. I picked the best looking seed.

April 20 plant 1 poked it’s head out of the ground. I have it in a 2 litter soda bottle with potting soil. I also planted a 6 more bag seeds to see what would happen.
I’m keeping plant 1 in window sill. On a few sunny days it set in the back yard.

During this time my kitten chewed off half of one of the second set of leaves.

April 27 none of the seed planted on the 20th have grown. Planted 12 more seeds in 16 oz cups.

May 1 plants 2, 3, & 4 pop out of the ground. They our under some t-12 lamp I have in the garage. One popped in the morning, one was up when I got home from work, and the last was there just be for I went to bed.

May 3 I found a way to germinate on a paper plate so I put 6 more seed there. My goal is to have 6 plants. Then around noon two more plants popped. 5 and 6. Now I wish I had not started more seeds. I have my six already.

May 6 one seed germinated on plate so it is planted in a cup. Then on may 8th it popped out.

All 7 are in the window.

May 11 I set up some grow lights (2) 24” T-12 20 watts @ 2700k. wrong color.

May 12 add two more T-12’s. Also repotted 1 thru 6. I buried them down do to some stretching.

May 13 changed bulbs to 6500k.

May 14 repotted #7 now all are in 6” pots. Added (2) 27watt cfl’s @ 5500k.

May 16 changed light set up to (10) 27 watt cfls with 1300 lumens @ 5500k. For a total of 4111 lumens.

May 17, watered all 7 plants base 130ppm change to +220 to +320ppm. Used Miracle-Gro all purpose plant food 12-4-8. This is the first time any extras are added to the water.

May 19 plant 3 has burned leaves, I flushed it with water.

May 24 I got a 430 watt hps grow light set up for $10 at a yard sale. Then I bought a 400 watt mh conversion bulb at the hydro store. The new bulb 30000 lumens @ 4000k.

I set up the new room in a spare bed room that my wife uses as a study.

The room size is 42" wide x 40" deep" x 85" tall.

I moved all seven in.

May 26 add (4) 26 watt cfl's 1600 lumens each @ 6500k. This brings my total to 30170 lumens for about 12 sq ft.

I'm looking for a better mh conversion bulb maybe this one SolarMax Veg Conversion - 400 Watt Metal Halide Conversion Bulb

May 31 repotted all in 8" pots.

June 1 I finished my grow room today. I add the doors (keep my nip head kittens out they chew the plants).

Move the ballast to the top to help with heat. I put a 12V computer fan on it to cool.

Finished my exhaust system.

Day 32- I decided to average their birthdays and this is what I picked.
June 2, 2008 8:00am mixed 1 gal of water with 4ml of Bat Gauno (10-2-1) all seven got a drink 16oz to 20oz each. Note the water was mixed last night and set about 8 hours. It turned the water all brown and had a ppm reading of +100.

5:30pm stats:
Distance to 400 watt light 14.25"
Temp 81 deg f at top of cab. The lower is cooler but I only have 1 gauge and it's mounted.

Wow best grow day yet.
Moisture level is 5 to 6 so no water tonight. The room is a lot cooler now that the cabinet and exhaust are finished.

June 5, 2008 5:30pm 1 is moist, 2 10oz water, 3 16oz water, 4 20oz water, 5 16oz water, 6 20oz water, 7 moist. 2, 4, & 6 all are droopy. 6 is the worst.
9:00pm 6 got some hydrogen peroxide. 3 and 4 perked up.

Sick setup man. That looks similiar to what mine (in the end) will resemble. you scored on th at light! I got a 150 hps for 10 bucks. Do you think i should get a mh conversion bulb or one of those new hps with added violet spectrum?
What is your light schedule and if you haven't when do you plan on fruiting?

I'd get a mh conversion for veg. The new violet bulbs look good but I've yet to see some post about start to finish with them. So I say the jury is still out.

I'm on a 18/6 as of now. I was planning to take some clones on July 10.

Org I was going to bud at 36" but this is bag seed so it may get to tall. Now I plan to bud on the 24th of July or at 24" to 30" which ever comes first. They're 8" now and growing 1/4 to 1/2 inch per day.

All plants look good to me. A good grow day here's the stats.

Goal for the weekend. Light prof the cab. Add mylar and maybe get some spliter for the four side lights. That would give 8 side lights and the 400 watt overhead.

Thats what i've concluded as well! I'm gonna grow the 5 that I have under CFL's. I wanna get the process down and then get some good seeds with a 400w hps/mh. Plants are looking BEAUTIFUL :mrgreen:

Any signs of sex yet? When are you planning on going to 12/12?
