My first GROW OP!

Hi guys, I am new to growing and new to this forum. I am getting ready for my first attempt at a grow op. As of now I am planning to start the grow inside the crawl spaces of my loft bedroom (pictures attached).
I guess my first question is, is this size suitable for a grow? I am looking to grow a couple of plants for my own personal use and am wondering if I can grow in here, how many plans I will be able to do. And what I need to do to make this space "grow ready".
Secondly I will be getting seeds shipped to me in the next couple of weeks and am wondering if there is a particular type of seed that would yield the best results.
Once I figure these particulars out I will be looking for a list of materials/equipment I will need to get some great bud!

All feedback is welcome and greatly appreciated.

With that type of space i would look into cfls or some t5 floros.I would also recommend some autoflowers since its a small space but you can get mostly indica based strains.That way you can have decent yeilds with small plants.
 
How many cfls would I need to get? And should they be hung directly over the plants or would a desk lamp(s) work?

With the autoflowers and indica they are usually low height plants (correct?) so how many seeds should I look into getting into that space?

Ya I heard some articles online and it seems the HPS is the way to go. What else will I need to prepare for the grow? Will I need some sort of fan? And what type of containers would be ideal?
 
Lots of ventilation. You need to remove lots and lots of heat. For that space you should look into air cooled reflectors, or maybe CFL's, but I can't cop to those myself. You need some sort of reflective material. The size of your containers depends on your soil, how large of a root system and ultimately how large of plants you are going for.

OK first off if you can give me the measurements i can give you a estimate on how many plants and lights.You can go with a small hps like a 150 or 250 but you will need ventilation for sure.
 
Its a loft room so the size is quite weird. Its approx. 3.5 ft high, 8.5 ft long, and has a depth of 4.5 ft. The room ceiling off the room angles down for the height of 3.5 right to the floor
 
hell ya thats a great grow space you got there. I have heard that a lot of people have trouble with big temp changes because of the weather so keep your eye on that. cant wait to see the grow
 
I am pretty sure there is no way of having a vent present in the room...Will a fan do a good enough job? I would be able to open the door up to the room to the grow area...would that work? I am really concerned about this being an issue.
