I am new to the indoor method. Everything prior to this is OD. I have a good grasp and everything is doing very good so far. I am going to cut back the light in 3 weeks. I borrowed most of the equipment from a friend. He gave me some plantmax hps bulbs that have 1 run left in them to flower with. I am seriously considering dropping the money on the eye hortilux http://www.eyehortilux.com/products/hps/SystemReqs/lu1000bhtlen/66785 and doing it right the first time. Am making the right choice?

The eye is definitely better. Really depends on your budget.

I was thinking I would be glad I spent the extra money in the end. Does anyone know the average % gain in yield when using a eye hortilux vs. plantmax/equivalent?

compared to a bulb with only 1 grow left .... id say good 30 to 40 % increase in lumens

At least 30%

A word of caution, don't upgrade your bulb during any "stretch period" your plants might be in and always have a spare on hand. head banging wall

I was going to change them the day I cut it back to 12/12. Is that ok?

It's going to stretch no matter what, but I would change now if you are growing a Sativa just to keep it shorter.
