my first bud rot experience

Well I am 99% sure I have just been hit with my first but rot. I have found much info on this problem today and after searching for good pictures I thought I might take a few and post em (get to use my new camera too...).

So far it looks as if I only lost a quarter to half oz. Can anyone tell me if the green parts will crumble also once they are dry (what are the chances of the innerMost part of flower being rotten?). On that note, the grey/brown spots are dry and fragile but not quite crumbly... I also (I know it is bad..) tried to smoke a tiny bit of the dry spot and it tasted normal and burned nice... (This is straight off the plant with no hanging/drying time...).

The other possibility is that I haven't watered in almost a week (I flush with just water, then two days later flush with just topMax, then let dry out to stress and produce some resin glands the last week of growth.) and It might be too dry in the room and drying on the plant. I also have dehumidifier right next to intake and in room monitor says It has been 30-45% humidity steady.

I went ahead and cut off every bud that looked like it had any wierdness to it. I also moved two small ozone gens into the room placed in front of the oscillating fans to try to prevent spread (I should have done this earlier).

Can anyone tell me if these pics are decent examples of rot? If so maybe at least it can help someone else out in the future...

Also.. I have read in places to make honeyOil or hash from the remains. Is it OK to put it in vodka or rum? will alcohol kill bad mold? Would bubble bags get messed up at all in the process of hash making? How about sterilizing the bags after, any good ideas? Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

The big colas that got rot are Blueberry/NorthernLights. I also have mango and superSilverHaze... The flower room has 5 different times which plants were moved under the 12-12. (had to keep some to mama up and take lots of good clones). So only the oldest one plant got infected with mold, the other BB/NL's have another 3 weeks.

I moved my dehumidifier from next to intake to inside the room. I also had it on a timer similar to the fan it was next to... now it is on ALL THE TIME. I hope dropping the humidity levels to the 20-30 range will keep all those spores from getting on all my plants that will be done in the next 2months that are already in there. Should I move plants temporarily and Bleach down the walls/floor of the room to try to combat the spores? I just did that to this room not even 2months ago...

na, I opened em up last night after the first post to check the inside of the buds and it was nasty in there. I cut all infected buds off and separated them from those colas you can see hanging. They are now mutilated looking with an empty stripe in the middle of them. I didn't want the mold to spread anymore during drying.

The rot creeps along the stem and kills from inside out. A lot of what you can still see in the pictures just falls off stem and really crumbles away like it is dry and rotten. And I can tell by the color now that it is rotten, freaking grey mold that I have never seen before, but now I now.

P.S. the piece I smoked was brittle outside bud, which is why it tasted "normal" when smoked, the inner bud of that same bud I would never smoke. I don't think I will put them in a bubble bag either... Probably down the toilet for a halfOz... Real bummer. I read somewhere on this forum someone joking saying he was going to cry himself to sleep when this happened... I am right there with you man.

P.S.S. when dehumidifier turned off for most of night the humidity got up to right around 50... now it is on 24/7 except to drain it.

extract the resin with ISO or Hexane, rot doesn't touch the resin, just a suggestion.
i had some rot too this summer, I have a fungicide called Benomyl (no longer available) that I painted on the stem after I cleaned out the rot, that stopped it dead in it's tracks.

When you water too much at the end of flowering, bud rot can occur easier. None the less, take it all and grind what looks to be ok (throwing out rot) then put it all in a mason jar and add Clear Creek/spring ? From the liquor store (under counter). It is 185% proof and 95% alcohol. Shake morning and one time at night for 30 days (keep cool and dark), strain through cheese cloth into a small glass dish and sit in front of fan for a few hours (in the dark). The alcohol will evaporate and you will be left with a thc sludge. Myself I put sludge in a amber eye dropper bottle and then add some hemp oil so I can administer under tongue.
