Hi all,
I've made a few posts elsewhere and was urged to move some of that info over to here and start an actual journal. I don't actually have all of my supplies yet, but I guess I'll start my setup as I build it so I can get some feedback, since I have never done anything remotely like this before.
So to start off with, I've got a pretty limited size space to grow in. It is basically a closet which occupies an attic corner, so it has 2x sloping ceilings which take up a lot of the space. Here is a sketchup of the space w/ tent.
Because of this, I determined that the largest tent I could go with was a Secret Jardin DR120W (2Wx4Lx5'3"H). This is the only component that has arrived at this point. I've got it set up and it is really nice (not that I have anything to compare to.
After much reading and discussion, I purchased this 600W hps kit off of amazon.
So the closet is pretty out of the way and I live by myself, but I do have people over the house pretty frequently and don't want them to hear a big fan running 24x7 and questioning things. So after much research, I ordered the S&P TD-150S 333cfm fan, since it seems to be the quietest on the market.
To go with it, I've also got a Can-Filter 33 w/ 6" flange on the way.
The tent only has 4" vents, so I'll have to use a reducer, but I don't think that will be a problem.
I had originally planned on having the filter, light, & fan all inside the tent, but once I set up the tent and looked at the dimensions of everything I've ordered, it doesn't look like there will be enough room.
My newest thought is that I will have the filter & light inside the tent, with the fan located just behind the tent. Here is a youtube video of my new proposed layout. If the fan is still louder than I would like, I can apparently run it inside a cardboard box w/ packing peanuts.
I was considering attempting to scrog 4-6 plants inside the tent, but I may not have enough room, plus since this is my first time I'm not sure if I will be able to successfully scrog a plant just yet.
So that is what I've got so far. The light, fan, filter, coco, nutes (CNS17 trio), & ph tester should all be here later this week. I've got seeds (white widow X big bud)on order from Attitude, but no idea when they will arrive. I was thinking I may just try with some bag seed to get a feel of everything before I use those anyway.
