Wanted to grow on the cheap... Worked out better then I thought. Unfortanally looks like both my plants are males. :sad:

Guess I should have sprang for the feminized seeds. And even sadder thing is I just bought a grow tent because the plants were getting too big.. Now I wish I didn't give my friend the smaller ones I had no room for...

ya been flowering for 8-9 days or so.. Think I started on around 8/27?? the dates are on the pictures names

8 or 9 days is a little early to tell BUT the males mostly show first in my experiance. wot can you see when you look at them? is there any white hairs or balls

yup. that's a boy alright.

Looks like you did a pretty decent job though, I'm finding the toughest with CFL is keeping the lights proper distance. Looks like you kept the stretch fairly minimal though.

I heard a rumor that if you keep the water PH slightly Alkline it has a better chance to be female. Is there any truth to this? Or is there anything that can be done to have a better chance to have a female besides buying the feminized seeds?

Genetics determine sex. Just like we do, weed also has two chromosomes (and on rare occasion 3) that determine the sex of the plant, fem seeds are pretty much your only option, unless you can get a hold of some clones.

So if a human has three chromosomes then it will turn out to be a hermaphrodite? Interesting.
