not to be mean....but sometimes i wonder if some of the people have EVER grown a plant of any kind when they post some set ups.

Treeman, you need more light, if you live in the country, just stick it next to the window during the day. Second, you need real soil. If you have a compost, which I'm guessing you don't, you should use that. Go to a store and pick up some bags of peat moss, perlite, and some vermiculite maybe. What you are using, if it was decent soil at one point, certainly is not anymore.

hahaaa ... of course not! they want to grow pot! I've been gardening since before I ever smoked pot and even considered growing it ...

it's really hilarious the shit you see - not aimed at you Treeman - like all the solo cups (clear or red), sketch-ass dorm/parent's house grows, incandescent lights ... you name it.

This is NEW Miracle Grow Premium Potting Mix.(This soil contains perlite and peat moss. Im not sure about vermiculite.)
I'll take a picture of the bag if you don't believe me.

As for the lights im buying 2 y fixtures and 3 more 27w daylight cfls this Friday. I was told one 27w cfl would be fine for the first week.

sweet.
I think you guys were right about the soil.
and Im pretty sure I was horribly underwatering too :S

I was looking at my soil compared to the soil in the bag and it looked completely different. Maybe I got really high and took some soil from my garden outside or something, I'll never know. But anyways I went to put the seedling and its root into the better soil and it was dried out and snapped.

Im already germinating another seed and its cracked.
I plan on planting it tomorrow around 10 PM tomorrow in the better soil, and not let the soil get so f***ing dry this time.

Just be careful when you start some new plants in some good soil not to overwater. Just because the stuff you were using now didn't hold onto water at all doesn't mean the next stuff wont, make sure to let it dry out some, at least the top couple of inches.

I planted the germinated seedling about 3/4 of an inch into the soil at about 9 am this morning. I'm going to be checking the dryness of the soil a few inches down much more closely this time and am hoping for the seed to sprout sooner then the last one.

The seed still hasnt sprouted.
Why is it taking so long for my babies to sprout?!
It's been 5 days since I planted it and I dont see anything.
I'm starting to get impatient..

i had the same thing happen to me. dont use light on it before it sprouts it dries them out, i lost 8 seeds that way. Its not even benificial for the seed if it hasnt sprouted so why use them.

TreeMan I am no expert but as far as germination, throw 10 or 15 seeds into a damp paper towel, put it in a dark drawer. Check it every dayish and eventually some of them will start to peek out, then transplant them only about 1/2 inch under the soil, do at least 4 or 5. Then you have a much better chance that some will survive, and you can choose the strongest and pull out the others or transplant them as long as their roots dont tangle. If this is bag seed it shouldn't be a problem to use a lot of them so I would hold back when germinating =)

just my 2 cents, hope it helps

edit: Oops... just realized this guy's last post was over a year ago...
