My bud doesn't smell like bud. Why?

I have two plants that are almost ready for harvest but they do not at all smell like weed, they smell more like black tea. about a 10 days ago I chopped of one of the more mature looking bugs and dried and started to cure it but during the whole process it still smells like tea. Last night i smoke some if it and although it smelled funny it tasted fine and gave me a nice body high. why would it do this and should I be concerned?

Most likely it is the strain.

They might need to go longer than you think as well, might be sativa dominate and need 12-13 weeks of flower.

maybe it is tea...we have seen all kinds of shit on here so without a pic proving its actually canabis your growing.....

not trying to be an ass either man but being on these boards for as long as i have i have seen some real winners so......

i had that before... it was the shittest bud that i've grown from bag seed lol, i think it has something to do about you drying ur bud in a baggy

How about some pics, and tell how you dried, length of time, conditions, and how you're curing?
If you're curing, and you leave the jar closed for several hours, when you open it, can you smell chlorophyll?

He says the plant itself while still growing has that smell. Why are you asking about curing for?

If you haven't grown the strain before, it more than likely is just the genetics. If you have and had a different experience/smell, then look at what you changed.

They can have real different smells..Different terpenes I think they as called. I have one that smells like Vicks vaporub atm. I would think tea would be nice as long as it has potency.

If you smoked it and it tasted good and gave you a buzz, what's the problem? I've had some grows with not much smell, as said it could be the strain.

if you want to simply get high, then smoke some mids...

but if you want to get real fucking high, and enjoy the fine terpines of weed, you smoke dank

I'd like to see some pics of these "tea" plants to see their overall health. I'm betting they aren't looking very good.
