Hi Guys

something has gone wrong with my plant. It about 7 weeks old and was 'ok' before this major change happened.

Ill explain the setup i have and perhaps somebody can take it from there..

Its a flood and drain hydroponic system; the tray contains the plant which is home to a ROCKWOOL cube and clay balls/rocks are also filled in the tray which is fed water via a water ring and drains back into the reservoir.
the PH level is kept between 6.0 & 6.3.
the nurtient level is reading between 900 PPM HANNA - 1000PPM HANNA OR 1.8 EC
its also connected to a air pump with two large airstones for oxygen.
400 WATT HPS LIGHTING 18hours on 6hours off.
Fan (Oscilating at LOW/MEDIUM speeds.
Intake and exhaust fans also.
room temparature is between 25/29 degrees celcius.
plant gets flood and drained for 2/3minutes twice during daylight hours.
the light is the correct distance from the plant.

I dont know what the hell is happening.. can somebody let me know what it could be? need EXPERT advise here the leaves just went twisted all of a sudden and curley 'leave edges curl inwards'. & droppy branches.

colour wise i cannot see any signs of nutrient burn; no burnt edges.. just nice green leaves

not sure if its overwatering or under watering? weak plant? i dont even know what strain it is or its name..

whats happening to it???????????

I will be uploading pictures in the next hour (prior to damage and after damage)

i used a product called 'turn around' which is supposed to ensure the plant turns out a female... i sprayed it onto the plant leaves and not knowing 3 hours later the light came on before it dried and when i returned to check up about three hours after the light was on again the leaves were droopy and curly and some branches look a little bent now.

i sprayed her with water and kept humidity up a little plenty of co2. and she hasnt dried up or nothing; she is green and leaves are perfect colouring only the curls man!!

She 'the seed' was kept locked away for 35years until now and its a shame to let it die!.. im giving TLC and lots of attention at the moment trying to revive the indica species.. not sure of its name due to the age of the seed.

Just a guess here, you may need to add 2 or 3 more floods cycles. Since you are using air stones the extra cycles will not drown your plant as they will get plenty of o2. As the root mass increase and the plant gets larger they need more watering. That would be the 1st thing i would try as you do not want the roots to dry out to much.

the rockwool cube is moist most of the time.. isnt that how im supposed to keep it? the 400watt bulb doesnt heat up too much so it doesnt dry out fast.

I would up your drip time to around 15 minutes and do it every 3-4 hours. It looks like your lower leaves are turning yellow and they are not getting enough water/nutrients. Leaves twist and turn yellowish because of lack of nutrients/magnesium. Usually you will see progress within a day or so if you adjust these parameters.

Also you dont want to keep the rockwool to wet around the base of the stem because you can make it mushy. The idea with the hydroton is to get the roots to move away from the rockwool and search for water in the hydroton, having it moist is ok but you dont want it drenched.

The rockwool is sitting on.hydroton clay balls so there would be plenty of water n oxygen but in relation to the older leaves that was a nutrient issue i.fixrd before.. At the moment she is 100% green colour is fine just twised leaves with curls.

The spray is what made it curly never user it before n i cant find.dtls on it on the web

god poor plant

i rang the hyrdo shop i bought this spray from.. he said the purpose of the spray is to 'stress' the plant so it comes out female... not kill it. thats what it was designed for.. but ive never heard of it.

lets see what happens with this 'unfortunate experiment' i will update and post pics if she recovers..

its been 4 days since the curls and she isnt looking 'any worse' still nice and green.. just curly leaves etc.

lets see if 'it unfolds' lol.

why did you use this spray? was your plant showing any male pre-flowers? looked good before you used that spray.

I think the spray hurt them when your lights came on and the leaves were wet. says on the bottle, to avoid burning... Not to use when lights are on. hopefully it will pull through for you. peace

No it wasnt showing signs just wanted to.do it.preflower.. and im glad i did.otherwise buds wud be killee!

you sprouted a 35 year old seed? you should get some kind of award just for that. hope yer plant gets better

Yep 35 years kept in a cool dark ventilated place.. (wine cellar) lol.

shes going to be a classic! its been almost a week since the problem she has no signs of burns or nutrient deficies..

she looks 'better' but still curly.. slow recovery! i just spray her down with normal water twice a day with her feed and shes being kept alive.

once she has recovered 100% i will clone her breed and collect some seed. a very old and rare indica.

As long as you are seeing slow recovery you're headed in the right direction. Just keep up on the TLC and you should see the rewards anytime now.

I just realised i was running the wrong PH for my medium for weeks.. thats maybe why it looks like that?

its HYRDO FLOOD AND DRAIN TYPE.. Plant is sitting in ROCKWOOL cube and surrounded/buried by rocks/clay balls/hydroton.

apparently i was supposed to have a PH of a max 5.8 i was running 6.2 - 6.5!!

6.2 - 6.5 is a little high, but that's not what caused it.

It was that turnaround shit. You heat stressed your plants with incorrect usage. There's nothing more. And I've never heard of a foliar female inducer. Plants aren't stressed or shocked into becoming female. They're stressed or shocked into becoming herm. Maybe that's a herm spray? Who would want to do that to their plant?
