My babys are to tall help!!

Ok so heres the problem i had 4 silver haze then got 6 chronics a few weeks later so the haze were about 2ft when the chronics were 1ft n the perfect size for flowering so now the flowering process is well under way n the silvers are nearly 5.5ft n touching the celing and light!!! The light has been kept close to the plants all the time so there not streched. I have trained them so there bending over now but was wondering about any other options i might have that you guys could tell me.....also i am thinking of cutting sum big fan leaves as i read that they take alot of the nutrients normally i would jump in n say no to any1 thinking this but if i could cut sum leaves it would give me sum much needed space in my lil grow tent. hmmmmm i am stuck please help.

Hey Rayner - how you doing?

I've been snooping around these forums for the past few months, and it's helped me a lot. From extensive reading, it would really be a bad idea to trim your fan leaves. To put it simply, they are really the key players when it comes to absorbing light and photosynthesis - they play a key role in the plant's developement. So unless you want everything to go smoothly for your girls - don't trim your fan leaves! I know it's tempting - especially when you need the space but I really wouldn't recommend it.

As for your strain... You're growing a Silver Haze and it jumped from 2 - 5,5 ft?! You're scaring me lol - I'm growing a Super Silver Haze and it's.. well I don't know exactly how tall it is but I can imagine it's going to go overboard when I start flowering, right? I heard sativs tend to do so. I've only got about 6,2ft in total for the plant; hopefully that's enough.

Anyway - upload some pics to give everyone an idea of the situation.

hi ppl i havent got a camera set up to upload pics yet but i havent topped the plants i wanted to do this but wasent sure were to start n didnt want to shock the plants etc etc so any advise on how to top em would be cool.
And as for how big they got yep its offical there touching the celing 2m!! i started 12/12 wen they were around 2ft n they have well over doubled in size but they should be ready in a few weeks n the yeild is the biggest i have ever had.

but defo next time gonna 12/12 em at 1ft. But for the record on the silver i had some of my mates today that i got my clones from n it was super nice. real taste of the dam!

you said there already tied down some, how much? your going to have to think of something creative that will allow you more space.

i was just trying to imagine the light in the corner of the room and the plants are some how facing the lights at an angle... just a stoned idea, dont really have any idea if/how it would work but it might get some ideas flowing

yeah its not uncommon for the plants to double or triple in height durring the flowering stage because of the shortened light cycles

yeah i already tied them down when they started to look like there wasent going to be room but all that did was make other branches grow up towards the light. The lights dead centre of the tent with the ladies evanly layed out under them. So them being streched is not the problem but sum of the leaves and bud at the side of the plants are getting burnt now as there growing up into the light just dont want this to shock the plant. i want to top them but wouldnt no how to do it correct....hmmm could make a post n get sum advice i think as i am scratching my head 4 ideas.

if you top during flower im pretty sure it will affect your yield, you are supposed to do it during veg. i dont know WHAT to do when your plants hit the fuckin ceiling lol. jesus christ man. you should try to put them into flower alot earlier next time.. you MUST be growing a sativa dominant strain... my advice would be to ditch the big lights if you are using a 1000 watt or a 600 watt. or any hid with a huge reflector. and try to finish off the grow with a shit ton of cfls? otherwise i donno man. you might kill your plants that you worked so hard on..

yeah i am using a 600w light with reflector shade. I am pretty new 2 growing and didnt no about topping until it was 2 late haha i will learn from my mistakes the only reason i let the silvers get so tall was to let the chronics catch up but next crop will be all the same so can 12/12 them wen there all around 1ft n everything should go sweeettt. I hope it does anyway i cant handle another huge crop like this!!! haha

oh yeah? im fairly new as well. just trying to retain as much information as possible in a small amount of time before my seeds are delivered from the attitude. what nutes are you using in this grow?
