I'm sorry if this is stated anywhere else but would i be able to use a 80w MV light for the vegetative stage on my hydros or doesn't it put out enough light?

Thank you in advance for any responses :-P

Mercury Vapor lamps do produce some useable light that will sustain plant growth, they are much less effective than a Metal Halide. Figure a Mercury Vapor will be around 50% as effective for vegging your plants as compared to a Halide.

Mercury Vapor

Mercury vapor is the type of lights that were used for streetlights many years ago. Not very good for growing because it doesn't provide enough of the right kind of light spectrum. While they do provide a littleof the blue spectrum, MV also produces too much heat to get very close to a plant, and are very inefficient to operate.

Taken from here. Go with CFLs instead, if you can't accomodate an HPS/MH.
