Mr. Nice "Ortega"........N.L. #1 X N.L. #5 from 1980's seed stock

Shantibabba's re-mix of Nevil's old seeds........very hermie prone with lots of complaints about it everywhere. There is also a question about the genetics, with Nevil claiming it's really Maple Leaf Indica genetics. Either way, I owned the seeds and wanted to pop them before they got too old. I started 14 plants, 2 seeds didn't pop. 6 were males, and the 6 pictured are the remaining females. This is the typical N.L. plant structure I'm used to seeing from the late 1980's. No smell, loads of branching, early bud production (day 15 of flowering).

No, the beans aren't 20 years old. Shanti popped Nevil's 20+ year old seeds and only a few grew. From those, Shanti selected what he considered to be the best representatives of the originals, and created the beans I grew out......they're not heavy yielders to be sure, but I'm looking for quality, not quantity, this time.

Nice work dude, ive got a shitload if Ortega seeds as well, looking forward to doing some crosses with it as well. Ive heard the main thing to do with the ortega is to flower after 3 weeks and they arent prone to hermie too much..

I've heard that too. I remember Shanti saying to flower them small. But he also said use it for breeding only, and not much else. Outdoors they are very reliable and people get great results. Indoors, it's a hermie special so you better go thru them daily looking for banana's or 1 day you'll wake up with a seeded crop..........

How were the results SSHZ? I've got a pack and can't decide if I should pop them or something else? Any advice or updates would be great.
