moving to aeroponic, cut the main stem or dig up all the roots?

I'm trying to transfer my soil plant to my aeroponic system. is it better to cut the main stem and hope for new roots to show or is it better to dig up roots while ripping some of them out accidentally and planting them with the roots?

Carefully remove ur plant from soil and dip in water until the soil is gone or mostly gone but u want all soil remnants removed from roots. The best way to do this is in a dwc bucket. Gently place plant in pot then cover with hydroton and u should be fine. Veg lights above.
