Moving small plants to bigger pots

When is the right time for a smaller plant to be moved in to a larger pot? What size should the plant be before it is moved into a larger pot?

Also whats good to put into the soil, I've heard fish heads is very good, as it has alot of nutrients, any other ideas?

Thanks.

Always wanted to meet Mike lol. Transpalnt your plants when the roots ara coming out the bottom of your pot or when you see that growth is stunted. Fish heads? Holy sweet satan, please don't. Worm catings are much better option. Happy growing!

there is no set time... the bigger the pot the bigger the plant... if you want your girls to grow faster and bigger, sprout them in 5 gallon buckets and just let the grow in those

any fish parts is good, scales, guts,heads.. also rotted fruit/vegitables potato skins cucumber skins all that stuff youd normally throw away... throw it in ur soil

I think you might be thinking of compost? All that stuff needs to rot away to put the nutes in the soil. Don't just throw a dead fish or vegtable scraps in your soil.

i guess its different for indo you probably dont want decomposing fish parts in ur pots, but i have a friend whos been growing for over 20 years and he says he just tosses it all in the garden covers it up with soil and lets it decompose there

like meat said wait till you start seeing the roots com out the bottom it will be easyier to get them babys out .. and i wouldent go throwing any dead fish in your hole without letting it rot for a few months and if there out in the woods i wouldent even do it thats only asking for a critter to come dig up your plot.theres plenty of nutrients out there u can get that will do the same thing.

Thanks for all the replies guys, much appreciated. Helped me out alot.
And Yeah I thought he fish theory was abit wierd.. haha but if it works ill just have to let it rot out before I chuck it in the soil. Thanks for all the posts!

i start with small containers then go to 1 gallon after a few weeks when they have rooted and you know that you won't hurt them during the transplant - then maybe a month later they move to the final destination - either in the ground or as big a pot as possible - 5 gallons can create a medium sized plant, but i have only seen monsters in 35 gallons.. chicken or horse manure is a good additive i have found..
