Mother Plants

What is the best way to keep a mother plant? I plan on making a switch from foxfarm soil n nutrients to dyna-gro and soiless.... The problems have been cal/mag def and not responding well to grow big in low doses. I keep feedings below 500ppm with R/O water... I have been running Roots soil and MotherPlant from hydrodynamics. I have only fed twice with it and they loved it... I am just trying to replan my strategy and dump soil all together. I feel like I water until the leaves go yellow and start guessing from there...
Do I get soiless and just run dyna-gro and flush every week or two? How long can one keep a mother like this? For me, it was until the soil went unstable and burned.

i keep mother plants indefinitely in growrocks in flood/drain or top feed setup

I have 3 mega gardens, but I wanted to "veg only" in them. I need something to replace my 5gal soil buckets... Do you use rocks because it's leaches better? I say leaches better cause I think I have been getting salt buld up that i cannot flush...There is a top feed system called WaterFarm, reasonably priced. I guess I like equipment lol.

I use coco/perlite and flush every couple weeks. Veg nutes as well as Bloom nutes every once in a while I use...I stay around 800ppm but depending on the strain and size of the mother may increase that.

When Oaksterdam had their nursery running they grew their mother plants in coco coir and fed them 700ppm of Sensi Grow with a pH of 6.0... Their clones were done in rockwool cubes and fed 300ppm of Sensi Bloom with a pH of 6.0 they were some of the healthiest clones I've ever bought with nice thick stems from well grown mother plants

I dont flush growrocks, i just water them with water only if i wanted but usually i would just give a low dose fert. it is easy to keep a mother plant for years in whatever medium you choose, when the plant becomes rootbound you just transplant and it grows on...
