mother plants and rumors

Definitely Seed....and I've heard of some going for 3+ years, guess it just depends on the grower and environment

You can start a mom from either seed or clone. You can keep a mom forever there is no time limit. You just have to retrenchment every once in a while and trim up the rootball.

IF you can get clones off a good stable mother plant from someone else... then that is faster than starting a seed.... and you dont have to deal with males... i did that years ago and never looked back... every 6 months i start new mothers from clones of the same plant and flower my older mothers for extra weight... this keeps the strain healthy.

Please elaborate. i do not understand the term retrenchment and how do you trim the roots without killing it?

no access. I assume I have to go with seed?

The moms will overtime use up all the nutrients in your soil. Therefore you'll need to transplant. When you reach into the dirt you'll find the crown. Lift slowly and carefully without tearing out the roots. Then take your snips and prune the rootball. Mix up new dirt and put her in there. Then water and resume your schedule.
