Mother of Berry Scrog update

I am super happy to have some new pictures to share with everyone. I am still fighting with PH a little but, now I have a PH soil probe so I know I am a bit alkaline. So here are some pictures of Day 44 of Veg

Unfortunately I did not get any pictures for another 11 days. However, you can see here that the scrog is not quite 3/4 full so I continued vegging for another 11 days. I started flowering at day 55. I just knew if I waited longer I might have some trouble controlling her. I was right.

So here are the latest pictures at day 3 of flowering.
P6180002.JPG P6180004.JPG

So now I am starting to think that I should have flowered sooner. I am having a hard time training her into the scrog this last week. I am training for only the first week of flowering. So I guess in 4 more days I will be done trying to manage this beast.

I am wondering if I should prune some of the larger fan leaves that are above the scrog and getting in the way of some growth. I know it is bad to put too much stress on the plant during this time but, I would like to see some of the other heads get bigger. Any suggestions would be great at this point I am kinda wondering what I am going to do with all this plant. lol

I just don't know if I should go crazy pruning or wait until around week 3 and see what is still in the way.

Go ahead and defoliate for a week or maybe 2 into flower. Just don't go crazy, lollipop the scrog, trim any branches off that are too small and only trim fan leafs above the canopy if they are blocking the light of another node

Thanks for the advice. I figured I should do at least a little pruning so the other nodes will grow up. I still have to remove more from under the scrog. First time with a scrog and boy is it intimidating at times.
Don't sweat it! Honestly, if you use common sense, pretty hard to fuck up. Some people don't defoliate at all, some cut off every fan leaf that's been growing for more than 2 weeks.

Cool! Yea I did some selective pruning on the top. I am glad I did now because, there was a lot of nodes covered by big ass fan leaves. I know it sounds crazy but, I put her back in Veg. She was only on 12/12 for like 3 days. I am having trouble with the PH hence the yellowing. Still trying to drop it to about 6.8 right now it is anywhere between 7 and 8. Mostly above 7 which is causing problems.

I think I might keep her in Veg for another week or maybe 2. I know she is getting really big for the area. I am going to need to take more clones. Oh BTW she is 12" from the soil to the scrog and another 12" weaved through the top. I am using a Mars 300 and a little 6 watt LED. Do you think she will give me a quarter pound?
Oh I love your dresser grow. Looks like you have about the same amount of space as I do. I have a 18" x 24" area with about 5 feet of height.

You will be alright, can't veg much longer though, expect her to at least double in height.
Thanks! Yeah I only had 12"x24" box 48" high. It was tough to fit two plants! Yield will strongly depend on how healthy your plant is, amount of light, genetics and available space to grow.
On average, you can get about 1 ounce a square foot. That depends on how healthy she is, and if you have a high yielding strain or not. I would say expect no less than .5 oz/ square foot and no more than 2 oz/ square foot best case scenario.

Thanks again.
Yea I figured once the scrog is completely filled I will have to flip her. She was doing so good before the PH issue. I have been watering with 6.4 water trying to bring it down. She needs Zinc and Iron. This strain is suppose to yield around 400 grams per square meter but, who knows. I know I have the light and the space but, I need to get her back to good health if I want a QP.
Wow I bet it was hard to fit the two in there. I started with 4 and 2 died then the other was a male. Down to this one plant but, she seems to be taking up the scrog pretty well. I told my girl all you need is one good plant to get what you need. I am sure you have seen these Youtube vids where people are pulling 2 pounds per plant.

Yeah those two pound plants are using great fertilizers, 1000w lights, super long veg times, and co2 enrichment though. I am doing a 4 plant scrog right now under a 1000w 4x4 and figure on getting a pound, but hoping for much more!

Do you have a ph meter? I add some dolomite lime to my soil when I mixing it, it's a great calcium, magnesium supplement and also a ph buffer. If you use that, and ph your water everytime, there's no way to have any ph issues.
What fertilizers are you using currently?
I use a great product called Cytoplus from Bioag, super high in micro nutrients like iron and zinc, it also has kelp extract which is super good as a foilar to promote secondary shoot growth and more, the humic and folic acid in it also are great for increasing nutrient uptake. I water my soil with it every feeding and every other week at a low concentration for foliar feeding

Cool I will have to look into that Cytoplus. I just started using Fox Farms grow big. Before I just had compost in the soil but, she ran out of food. Yea I just learned that you should water with like 5.5 to 6.3 or something like that. I was not checking the PH of the water before and when I got a PH tester I found that my city water is about 7.2. Wow total newbie mistake I know. In previous grows I never bothered and I guess that is why I never got much bud.
I am trying to do things right this time. I have been keeping her going by foliar feeding her. I hope I can stop once I get this PH under control. Still too wet today so I have to wait a couple before giving her the lower PH water.

Well I have gone back into flower. This time I am 3 days into flower and gave her a shot of Tiger Bloom. New Pics
P6290003.JPG
I did some more pruning she is so bushy. I also added a string to the front so the overgrowth has a place to go. I did a little more work on her today. At this point I am just trying to get as many heads in the light as possible. She seems to be going into flower fast and furiously. This picture was taken a day ago and today I am seeing a lot of hairs and the pre-flowers are starting.
I think because I started flowering before then went back to 18 hours for about 8 days she is going into it faster. I think I might have just delayed things a bit. Hopefully the flowers will not spit out banana's.
Tomorrow I think I will get a picture of the side view. Everything under the scrog is cleaned up. The scrog sits 12" off the soil and she is stretched another 12" or so across. It was a lot of work getting to this point. I have to say that if you are not really dedicated to putting the time in a SCROG is not for you.
It was a lot of work but, I am very happy with the results so far. I am not 100% done training her but, at this point I am not bending anything else. I am trying to support what is there and hope it will stretch another 6" at least. This plant is known for not stretching much. I saw a 4' plant only stretch 1' in the 3 weeks. I believe Bubba Kush is another plant like this. Mostly Indica genetics are wonderful. I love short and bushy.
Anyone want to guess at how much more she will stretch? I was not planning on having just one plant so some heads are a lot taller than others. This was due to the way I stretched her. In the future I will have a better idea of how to put everything into place so it is more even. I have clones started from this plant so that should make the next grow a lot of fun.
Not sure how I am going to SCROG the new plants. I know I am a SCROG'er for life now. I just love the way the plants grow into the screen and have so much fun figuring it out. I can see how this would get me the most from the space I have. This is a great technique and highly recommend it.
Well until tomorrow happy growing! :)

Well here we go into week 2 of flower. This is at day 8
P7050002.JPG P7050006.JPG P7050007.JPG P7050008.JPG
I got an image of the underside this time so everyone can see that this is really just 1 plant. I do seem to still be having a bit of a yellowing problem on the tops. The last photo is the main cola nug and as you can see there is some yellowing. Can anyone please tell me if this is normal or is she missing something. I have been foliar feeding epsom salt and Big Bloom since it has some iron in it as well. I know my PH is still high and I am dropping the PH of the water for every time with no avail. I am still getting a PH of anywhere from 6.8 which is o.k. to 7.5 which is bad. The water is Ph'ed at 6.0 to 6.3.
I have also been giving her cal mag and tiger bloom. I have only been using half doses for the Tiger Bloom and Big Blooms.
She seems to be about done stretching already. As I mentioned before this strain does not stretch much so that is normal. I am so worried I will wake up one morning and see the buds rotting or something. I realize it is hard to tell with the crazy light. I have looked at her with a regular light and she seems to be just light green not yellow but, this being my first real grow I am worried.
Well that is all for now. I will be posting more new pictures next week and updating everyone on her progress. Until then I look forward to your comments.

Here we go week 2 of Flower. Wow she is even more amazing now. She has stretched some more and might a little more but, I am still good on distance from the light.
P7100006.JPG P7100013.JPG
She has over 30 heads that are pronounced. There is actually over 40 in there however, some are not going to make the cut I am afraid. In 1 more week I will be removing anything that is not tall enough to receive ample light. This was all done will Light Stress Training. I did not top, fimm, or monster crop. I use what are called LST tops.
Here is a crappy picture but, it gives you an idea of how much space she is taking up. For my first time using a SCROG I think I did OK filling the entire space.
P7100008.JPG I had to make some modifications to the fan for better airflow recently and added a mini dehumidifier. I think it is worth mentioning that this is a 100% Organic Grow. I even put some Red Wigglers in the soil to help break down the organic matter and add help with drainage.
I have been using Fox Farms TIger Bloom and Big Blooms a little. I only use about a quarter dose of those. They are strong don't kid yourself. The Big Blooms formula has bat guano and worm castings so it is great shit.

Anyways she is starting to give off that nice blueberry scent already. I touch up on one of the sugar leaves and smelled my finger. It reaked of blueberry. Until next week or if someone replies peace out.
Happy growing.

Just cracked a MOB seeds that was a freebie from Attitude a while back so subbed for this grow.
That's awesome! Such a great strain to grow. Much stronger than the original Blueberry and much denser. Plan on doing some training and pruning because they really bush out. The largest one I saw was about 5 feet and all I can say is holy crap what a plant.
A little tip for growing this strain if you don't already know. It likes the cooler temperatures. When you go into flowering it helps to get down to that lower like 69 degree area. This will also cause it to get nice and purple hues. Even in Veg she did not like to get above 78 degrees.
One of my favorite traits of MOB is that it is a 45-55 day flower. Oh yea! She is quick when conditions are right. Have fun growing.

Looks good but never go by the what the breeders say, indica almost always takes 8-9 weeks to ripen, looks leafy and will need a lot of pruning to maximize airflow.

Yea I am waiting until week 3 to prune more. At this point I am just removing whatever is dying due to lack of light.
Actually the MOB plant that this came from I was involved in growing and it took 50 days to get nice and ripe. That was under a 1000w watt metal halide though so I don't know if it will finish in that time with this LED. Of course I don't count the first 2 weeks of flowering so I guess you could say 8-9 weeks. Everyone seems to calculate flowering differently. Really I guess some plants could take only a week or so to start flowering.
A lot of those calculations are dependent upon growing conditions. I have seen a MOB plant take longer but, it had problems before it went into flowering.
Another strain I was helping grow that had a 45-50 day flower time was AfGooey. I believe the reason why MOB flowers so quick is because it is native to Maine at this point. Since we have such a short growing season I believe it had to adapt in order to finish. Just a thought. I have a bit of information about it since I grew up here and have grown it a few times. It was one of those strains that people would gorilla grow around here.
Anyways something else you might like to know is that this strain loves lobster poo. I am growing it in Coast of Maine Stonnington mix and the clones are loving it. The guy I grew for had his own super soil mix that also contained lobster poo.
With any luck you will have a variation of the strain that does mature quick. I love fast flowering plants. So few of them around though.
Happy growing. :)
Post some pics when they start growing.

Sorry I guess I did not read your thread well enough. Those seeds you have are not Mother of Berry. Are you talking about Moby Dick or something. I was wondering because, Mother of Berry as mentioned before is a Maine strain. Seeds of this strain are very rare because, it is very stable and handed down through clones around here.
Not saying it is impossible to get a seed but, you will never see them at the seed banks. Sorry:( for the confusion.

I have the same freebie from attitude..maybe it is just a seed version of the mob but not as he as the clone only obviously ?bit like blue dream clone only but can get seed form from hso ?
