mother lighting

I am trying to setup a spot for 2 or 3 mother plants and am trying to decide on how much light to use. i want as little as possible that will work good. i use 2000w hps in flower and 400w mh for veg but what about mother plants? i have a 105w ho t5 "2 bulb, 4 foot" i use for cuttings but i dont think that will be enough. the only reason i want mothers is to keep my strains going good. i have been reading that cloning from clones eventually degrades quality and traits etc of the original strain and i have a very nice white berry, lsd, and og kush 18 pheno i would like to keep from each. i really dont like the idea of having to keep mothers but if it is the only way to keep my strains from degrading then i will. any suggestions as to what lights will suit me good for mothers? i know mh and whanot but i want to know the least amount of light that will do the job. thanks.
 
Use the 400Mh for veg moms, who said clones degrade?...Clones are identical to moms not losing grade even after 30x.
Tubes will work aswell but 400 better! Use flur for clones...

i just read a bunch of threads on it. i currently read this thread https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/249959-cloning-clones-clones-clones.html and decided im not going to keep mother plants. i am just worried about my clones degrading eventually but it seems they should be ok. thanks for your input, another person saying cloning from clones wont degrade makes me feel better. thanks man.
 
If you try you will see and if it does degrade then cross it and you will be happy again I think it is all right!
 
If you clone a clone maybe it will degrade after 30x but if you take clones from mom they are still only C1's and you have along way before you would get to 30?
 
But cloning from clones means youre changing the structure of the clone with every clone you take off it. I do the mother thing, always have. Right now I have 3 mothers and about 80 clones all under a 400 MH. I can take another 100 of the mothers right now if I wanted to. Personally I think it's the way to grow. Find a good strain, keep it. Then you know what you have. Every once in a while I start a new mother. When I start a new mother, I'll veg 5 plants so I can take another 100 clones, then after that I'll downsize to one mother cuz next time I need clones the one mother will produce enough. Downfall is you need a second room for 18 hrs. But... after you harvest in your bud room you can put the new clones in and put them under 12/12 right away, no time lost for veg. Thats my 2 cents, now wheres my change ???

well i will just go with the cloning the clones and see how it goes, if shit starts degrading eventually, i guess i will have to germ some new seeds and start from scratch. thanks for your input.
 
Keep mom going and they are still only 1st generation clones even 100 keep her veg take more clones still 1st gen...

yeah, my clones right now are directly from the first plant. the first plant is in flower so i had to decide whether or not to continue cloning from here or make a mother of what i got.

my main problem is i dont want to have to run another 400w. i have 2000w in the flower room and 400w in the veg room and 105w in the cuttings area. my electricity is already high with everything im running. if it comes down to it i will.

What you have in the veg room is more than enough to sustain mothers and clones, no problem.
 
I use a 8 bulb (54watts each bulb) its probally around 4ftX3ft T5 setup and it works great for moms and clones so far. But My veg and flower room are the same room so i switch the MH for the HPS. I use to use just the MH for m moms and clones but the T5's are doing fine and when I was using the extra MH my bill was very high and the T5s cut it the bill down alot more than i thought it would.

i wanted an 8 bulb setup but when i first started growing i didnt know much and ended up buying the 2 bulb instead. it still works great though.

the only problem is i need enough room to veg my plants. i like to veg for about 4-6 weeks and the plants get a little big so i use a 400 just for vegging. i veg in a 54 gal rubbermaid tote i turned into a aero setup and veg 15 plants at a time in it.
 
Moms get big and if your taking cuttings alot than you want an intense light so they regenerate quicker. Mothers get fucking fat man. I am going to use a 400w all on one lonely Mother.

Why dont you use more clones and reduce veg times ? Then you wont need so much room for big plants and end up with a faster turnover.

well im trying to keep my legal grow as legal as possible. i have no choice but to let cuttings sit for 4 weeks or so because i clone before flowering and then have to wait for harvest to start the new clones in flower again. i basically do and have the same setup as StinkBuds harvest a pound every 3 weeks but scaled down, each system runs 5 plants and i run 3 systems. i will just continue to go the way im going now and i will see what happens, i am hoping for the best. if all else fails i will do what needs to be done to keep mothers etc. thanks everyone for your help. i +repped all of you.
