More to get off my chest: The LAW is in my family

So, yeah, my father is a +25 year veteran of the force, former DARE officer all that good stuff.

Not surprisingly, it came to my understanding in the last few months that I and my two siblings all enjoy cannabis. So, I'm already anticipating some really interesting holiday conversations.

Now, I just want to say something: I really don't appreciate people on this forum or elsewhere talking about killing cops. They're just doing what they've been told and most importantly they have families too. BUT what I will say is something many of you already know: cops belong to a school of thought that is hard to crack. Meaning, in terms of the topic of illegal drugs it is they themselves that have been brainwashed more than even your average school child- more than you and me. I don't hate them: I feel sorry for them.

I've struck up conversations about cannabis with my father before and you can see it in his face- he simply cannot comprehend alternative views on the subject. I watch as the thought hits his brain, a few sparks begin to fly, but then the fire extinguishers which are his years of 'training' arrive and the fire goes no further. His responses range from shaking his head to saying "I don't think so...".

What I'm trying to say is this- I don't think anyone here should hate the police. I think you should feel sorry for them, I think you should pity them. The reality is simple: they are the ones who need help; they have been brainwashed far more than you or me. When you are incapable of processing new concepts because years of police training has changed the way you think, I feel nothing but sadness when I think about it.

Edit: Oh, and in case you think I'm being too soft, even my father admits there are some huge jackasses on the force. Especially the younger, cockier ones. Positions of power and authority attract people who should have neither.

I HATE alot of police officers because they did alot of fucked up things to me family and friends. But if your father is a good police officer I would have nothing against him.I just know more fucked up cops then I do good ones.I been maced for no reason had money taken from me that I worked for I could make a whole list.Thats the reasons why cops get shot eventually they fuck with somebody so much then the person just snaps.

I think people should respect them..hating them will get you nowhere.
Plus, who you callin when your house gets broken into? Or your car gets jacked?..thats what i thought

That's fucked up. My father is the type of guy to go out his way and help others no matter the cost to himself. In doing so he surrounds himself with other good friends who are also cops, and at the same time he is taken advantage of by the not-so-caring people who work for his department, including the sheriff.

Like I said, law enforcement is a job that attracts those seeking power who should never receive such authority.

It makes me sick and it will always make me sick to know there are those who abuse their power to harm people or worse.

Eh...They're just doing their jobs. I like the old 60s bumper sticker on cop cars...Next time you need help try calling a hippy...It's very true, when the shit hits the fan these are the only people protecting your intrests. Cops for the most part are just trying to keep a safe community. Unfortunately they must enforce laws that are anti-marijuana. If the laws changed then you'd think they were much cooler. It is kind of their jobs to be dicks mostly because people are always lying to them, almost killing them, or just up to no good.

I understand your need to vent- it doesn't make what happened to you any less important. I think we all just need to relax :leaf:, including the cops.
