So, yeah, my father is a +25 year veteran of the force, former DARE officer all that good stuff.
Not surprisingly, it came to my understanding in the last few months that I and my two siblings all enjoy cannabis. So, I'm already anticipating some really interesting holiday conversations.
Now, I just want to say something: I really don't appreciate people on this forum or elsewhere talking about killing cops. They're just doing what they've been told and most importantly they have families too. BUT what I will say is something many of you already know: cops belong to a school of thought that is hard to crack. Meaning, in terms of the topic of illegal drugs it is they themselves that have been brainwashed more than even your average school child- more than you and me. I don't hate them: I feel sorry for them.
I've struck up conversations about cannabis with my father before and you can see it in his face- he simply cannot comprehend alternative views on the subject. I watch as the thought hits his brain, a few sparks begin to fly, but then the fire extinguishers which are his years of 'training' arrive and the fire goes no further. His responses range from shaking his head to saying "I don't think so...".
What I'm trying to say is this- I don't think anyone here should hate the police. I think you should feel sorry for them, I think you should pity them. The reality is simple: they are the ones who need help; they have been brainwashed far more than you or me. When you are incapable of processing new concepts because years of police training has changed the way you think, I feel nothing but sadness when I think about it.
Edit: Oh, and in case you think I'm being too soft, even my father admits there are some huge jackasses on the force. Especially the younger, cockier ones. Positions of power and authority attract people who should have neither.
