alright let me break it down for ya i have a grow box 3x2x5(WxDxH) would it be better to have 8 1.5 gallon pots? OR 3 10inch pots( i dunno how many gallons) with 2 1.5 gallon pots? i have a 250 HPS. which would get me better yield?? :leaf:

given your height limitations you won't get any benefit from the larger pots anyway. go small and lots of plants

even with topping and training your space is going to be tight. 18 inches for the light plus 10 inches for the pot leaves you 32 inches for the plant. given that small size and that training is an extra step, you're probably better off with more plants of a shorter strain. the other approach is to shorten or eliminate veg and produce a lot of small plants in a short amount of time.

lst > topping always.

i'm about to embark on a grow with similar dimensions. i'd say go with more smaller pots.

with one or few big plants light does not get distributed efficiently in my mnid throughout the whole height of the plant. (bottom get little, top blocks most).

You should use way smaller pots than even the smallest ones you mention. A sea of green with 16oz to 1 litre containers packed in there, that way you don't have to do anything like training or topping and you just let them grow into a sea of single cola's naturally. It will be the largest yielding and fastest way to grow in a space like that.

hmmm i like the sound of that..i'm going to go through some trial and error with this box. thanks for your input:bigjoint:

Here is an example you should definately look at if you like that idea, this guy is the guru of that style grow:

Then if you like that, check out what he did with larger boxes and more lights:

Simple, cheap, fast, and extremely high yielding per watt and space. Look at the attached picture of one of his plants grown in a 16oz soda bottle.

OMGGG!! That is so inspiring! holy shit it just blew my mind! i'm defiantly going to think twice about my 1.5 gallons lol. so glad you stumbled on this thread my friend, thank you.

Great info OregonMeds. Just keep in mind the sea of green is meant to be done with clones so all the plants are female and grow and mature at the exact same rate.

I have some what the same issue. I am challenged vertically in my grow space. So I did the short veg thing. trying to keep my plants under 2 feet. If I am correct , you need 50watts per sq foot for optimum performance of your plants. So with that being said you need 5 sq feet. Please correct me if I am wrong folks

That's true normally, but DrBud has shown how to do that same method with seed, with different varieties, and he usually grows perpetual harvest in that tiny cabinet with 3 mature plants coming out and 3 new clones going in every week so in that case they are never all the same height. (explains why he has fixed mounted lights and not moveable)

It's nice actually though the way he's worked it out because there's very little fiddling you have to do. (no adjusting the lights ever and no special training or topping etc.) Takes less than a 2 week veg time per clone so the turn around is fast as can be when you veg/clone in another cabinet.

Just put them in, keep them watered, and repeat the same cycle every week of harvesting 3 and putting in 3 new ones. Always have more bud than you need every single week from almost no space and costing almost nothing. (that guy doesn't use expensive nutes or anything)

To the OP, you're welcome... But you should thank DrBud if you use his method, not me. I just pointed you in that direction, he's the guru.
