I was woundering about the the 18-6 light shedule. Thats what I have mine on, but during the 6 hrs the light is off, does it HAVE to be COMPLETLY dark, like they say it has to be with budding?
I ask casue my GR is in my bedroom and sometimes the light from the TV may shine on them, or the light from my cell phone when its chargeing may sine on them (but I just flip my phone over now, so the light shines down).
But I just dont want any chane of getting any hermies or whatever. my plants are still only like 2 weeks old, roughly.
Of course when the 12-12 starts Ill make ABSOLUTLY sure their no light on them at ALL during the 12 off cycle.
But PLEASE let me know if a LITTLE light for at most 1 hr will be OK during the 6 hr off.

Also is their a down side to sexing the plants? besides finding out you got males
BUt I have about 8 plants on my closet, and I know all 8 cant gorw in their, due to size of the room. So Im assuming their will be some males and then wahts left should fit in my cloest in 3 gl containers. Of course if I get all females, ill have to worry about fitting them all in :-P But is 1 month into vegging OK for a good time to sex them? Assuming I let them veg for 2 months and bud for 2 months. I shold try and sex them hafl way through their vegging cycle.
And I belive by sexing them I should just turn off the light for about 36 hrs and i shold have my answers?
Any chance of any problems with sexing as oppsed to not sexing them and just finding out when the 12-12 cycle starts. Again I dont want any chance of any hermies or whatever. So i dont want to sex them and then put them back into vegging, if its gonna produce hermies. Or if it even "rasies" my chances of producing hermies.

But Thanx for any help or info with this.

Lights~ well I would not bother them in the dark period at all, I would be afraid of stressing them. Hang a cheap curtain over door.

At 4-5 weeks you should be able to look between the 6-7th node and see sex. Get rid of males and at that time if they are all females get rid of the slow growers.

36hrs no need to shut off lights for that amount of time, unless you are going to shut off lights for 36hrs before going 12/12.

If you wait until 12/12 to sex them, you might have males decieve you until its too late and POW there goes there pollen. Plus it's a waste of time to even deal with males. In veg sex and destroy.

Alright, so I may not even have to sex them. Just wait and if any males pop up, kill em. Should the males show themselves on their own before the 12/12 starts?

As for my lights at night time, Ill just completly shut the cloest door so light doesnt go in and Ill have to put a towle on the bottom of the door, casue light can crep in from under the door.

Thanx alot for the info GG

Yeah just keep an eye out and like I said when the 6th node comes up thats when you want to really look around. They will show.

no, it's not critical during veging.
