Seems like a lot of people use it, what the recommended usage ie; during vegging or flowering how does it affect ph/ec and how much how often?

+Rep for anybody who has side by side comparison shot of plants grown with and without it.

https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/301063-molasses-use-not-use.html .. here's another thread where it's currently being discussed.. there are a few replies on it. As for my usage, i mix about a 1/2 teaspoon per gallon the last half of flower and bump it up to a teaspoon during flush. I honestly cannot tell much of a difference between using it and not using it other than a little added sweetness in the taste. A lot of taste aroma enhancers like botanicare sweet and advanced nutrients bud candy contain molasses in them already. I'm not 100% on the botanicare but i know for sure bud candy does. bud candy also has cranberry extract and grape extract (along with some other stuff, amino acids and what not.. im not gonna type everything on the bottle lol). u can use molasses for soil but it's not recommended for hydroponics. that's about as deep as my knowledge goes on the subject. I think molasses use is more hype than anything.. a lot of people talk about it like it's the silver bullet for making bud stickier, better tasting, and better smelling.. but like i said, i only noticed a slight difference in taste. used advanced bud candy, used unsulphered black strap, and i have used nothing. not much difference between any of it in my opinion. If i had side by side comparison photos you wouldn't know the difference at all!lol

Thanks dog, that's actually the first thing I did which turned up 2 thread in the Nutrients sub-forum. I skimmed over those thread but didn't really find a consensus on it's use.

Thanks slomo, checking it out now.

I would stay away from it. I've never tried it out, but from what I've seen, molasses causes more troubles than problems it solves.

There's something about adding something that sticky and sweet to my grow that just seems wrong.

I would stick with something that's already made for MJ, rather than just experimenting with other things that seem like cheap fixes.

Bud Candy seems to work pretty well for me if you're looking for a sweet addition to your grow schedule. Advanced Nutrients really designs their products specifically for MJ, so that's something that sits well with me.

But hey, if molasses ends up working out for you - awesome. :bigjoint:

I'm just not talented enough to handle anything without clear instructions on how to use it....:eyesmoke:

Just not that smart...;-)

Bud Candy has molasses in it.. most likely the main ingredient. If you are going to use molasses you gotta make sure you mix it up with a couple liters of hot water so that it will actually thin out and mix in.. once you do that you can pour it into your nute solution mix and it won't clump or gel up. As for usage.. you can use quite a bit.. i can't remember the numbers exactly but it doesn't add much on to the ppms...i can double check in the next few days with my meter if you are really interested in knowing.

I've used molasses in my indoor room and in my outside garden. Been using it and mixing quantum growth beneficial microbes with it for about two years. You can,t see the floor my girls are so bushes. The molasses gives the microbes something to feed on and speeds up reproduction of the microbes which double in population every five minutes. they are living microbes not spore forming microbes. They also utilize 90% of the fertilizer by consuming it holding it till the plant needs it. They produce the sugar the plant needs ten times faster than the plant can itself. You don't have to mix Quantum Growyh with molasses it just gives them a boost. Go to DouglasSpeed.com and look at the sciencetific breakthrough on their website. All growers should look into Quantum Growth makes other high priced products look silly. Indoorman

Yeah, let's pay whatever rip off price AN charges for BUD CANDY when you can get it at the grocery store for $2.25/16oz.

Keep buying it, perhaps eventually you'll see it for the scam it is.

I just started using it a few weeks ago. I swear by it the first night it made a noticeable difference. Go for it research it a little but if your soil I recommend it. good luck

I have been using molasses with great success,I LOVE it!!!
Makes the buds fatter and stickier and adds to the density IMO.
I will not have a grow without using it.

i know there are people that use it in veg, but i don't know of any proven benefits from using it in veg. i've only heard of bad things like it attracting more bugs, a lot of people say as far as supplement usage.. seaweed/seakelp is best during veg and replace it with molasses during last several weeks of flower once the stretch is over and the buds are starting to stack.

Would there be any benefit to using it during veg?
YES !!!!

Molasses JUST feeds the microbe's/bacteria and such. Those same are there during veg, so it just makes good growing sense.

Molasses does NOT make buds sweeter, more dense, add flavor or any of that other internet nonsense/marketing hype by itself. The molecules are too big to be taken up directly by the plant.

That happens because the molasses feeds the BB (beneficial bacteria), which in turn break down the nutrients that enable the plant to take them up easier and more efficiently. THIS results in denser buds, more flavor and all that other good stuff.

Does this make a little sense?

BTW Big+ to the seaweed/kelp. Good stuff to use.

I would say no, since it has little nutritional value and will likely clog up pores necessary for breathing. As mentioned earlier it is not for the the plant itself but rather for the micro-organism that dwell in the soil and root system

I second that, the stomata need to be able to open and close to transpire and retain moisture for the plant... if they can't do that efficiently, it will work against your plants

Carbo Load by AN would be the proper substitute for blackstrap molasses, not
bud candy........
