I do find that very strange that anyone would go for that deal....I could understand maybe a portion, but $680M is the majority.

The boy may be an excellent baseball player but a very stupid investor.
he makes 50mil a year of endorsments right meow so he can afford it i guess. i know the dodgers are gonna kick themselves in the ass if they dont win any world series with ohtani is the next 10 years, cause the next 10years after that, dodgers will be broke

What is even more interesting is what the Dodgers may look like from 2034-2040.
Ohtani is owed $68mil/annually from 2034-2043.
Mookie Betts has deferred $120mil to 2033 to 2044
and Freddie Freeman will be owed $57mil from 2028 to 2040.

That's a lot of money to be spending on players that will be retired. Bonilla x3.

If the Dodgers do indeed win a lot, they wont have a great farm system (generally speaking) in the future.
If for some reason the Dodgers bomb then this was all a waste of money but (again, generally speaking) could have a bunch of great talent when the bank man comes in the 2030's...

my guess, current ownership wants to win now, reap rewards, sell off before stuff gets real ugly! only works if you win thobongsmilie

The value of Yamamoto is no longer worth it with clubs tossing $300mil+ at him. Man, I hope Cohen backs away.
It's irrational to me to be throwing down that kind of cash for a player that has never thrown a single pitch in the MLB.
At this point might as well just sign Snell.
