Mkay, you see... here's how you break it down.. (Area 51 -90 and Pro Grow 180)

Ive been heavy into trying to grasp how to make my own panels for some time now... slowly making my way to the more educated side of things.

Well, I had purchased a few new Area 51 -90 panels from Jeff and Eric about a month or so ago, and my bad fortune bestowed me with a faulty driver in one of my panels...

allowing me a very limited opportunity of being able to see the guts of an Area 51 panel

Very neat and tidy design, ziptied for a nice look.

I have not taken the reflective material off to check out the board yet, but I am very interested as this one part I have NO IDEA about... lol

MY questions..

1.) where would I get a heatsink similar to the PG180, and what is an EASIER way (than determining Tr) to find what you can/cant run on them?
2.) where is a good source of diodes, that is a good balance of quality/price. Mainly whites, and 1w's are my interest...
3.) MPCB board?! where in the hell!?!? and how do i know if it is "the right one?"
4.) WHY ARENT WE ALL MAKING THESE!?

Thanks for this post Scotch. +Rep to you sir!

And Scotch don't take off foil, it never goes back on as good ;). I never knew a PG uses the same way of mounting it's diodes as a BS240 does, PG uses a finned heatsink and BS doesn't. It's a bitch and a half to work with that design IMHO and I've got the micro screws all over my place to prove it :). I'm not sure what you want to do with it though. If you're trying to replace diodes, then that foil has to come off and you'll need a multimeter to see what the voltages are. Guod can help I bet. Oh and a bag of screws probably :). Perhaps the PG is easier to work with than a BS though. Good Luck.
