i've been searching and can't really seem to find any good information on the topic...

i've got 2x 400 watters, 2 hps bulbs, and 1 mh bulb. i'm gonna use a separate tent for veg with a 8-bulb t5. when i put my girls in the flowering closet, should i fire up 2 hps or mix it up with 1 hps/1mh??

after researching it seems the mixed spectrum improves quality, but potentially decreases yield? i just might have to do an experiment..

Id mix them. Ive always wanted to do a 50/50 mix of hps and mh or hps and cmh if they made cmh's bigger than 400w

Go for the mix. if possible rotate the bulbs or plants or fixtures (whichever is easier to move) every 2 weeks if possible.

unless you have a perpetual type grow where half the room is on one month and the other is a month ahead.

yeah, i'm going for it. that is unless someone provides some solid research suggesting against it. i'll move the plants around every 2 weeks no doubt, good suggestion. i remember reading somewhere a guy had an mh and hps side by side and the mh plant grew bigger with more bud sites. everything should be nice and even if i apply your suggestion.

imo mixing the spectrum's are like getting the best of both worlds, just beware of the extra heat from the mh, if thats manageable then go for it, i've seen many successful grows with horizontal hps and vert mh bulbs to fill in the cracks

i feel the opposite. all of my hps bulbs have felt hotter than my cmh and mh bulbs ive used.

don't got money for any more equipment. i'm just going to use what i got and save up for the tent. maybe when i move out to colorado i'll check out cmh, i've heard good things.

That is a SICK setup.

Enough weed to last me a lifetime
hell yeah it is. how big is your space DLOPEZ???

@DLOPEZ
also, do you notice any significant differences between the plants under hps and plants under mh? or do you move things around in there? it looks pretty stationary but i can't see noticeable differences from the picture.
