mixing cfl with HPS question

New to the forum, hi everyone.
So I have a grow with a cap ebb and grow 20 buckets with 3000 watts HPS/MH mix plus 6 twin tube flouresent shop lights thrown in to the mix. Currently vegging some blue dream and purple diesel ready to go up to my NFT system where I have OG kush in their 5th week of flower ( smelling good )
My question is.
Is there any reason I can't veg my plants 12 hrs under the HPS/MH lighting then have them do 12 hrs of flouresent so that they stay in veg. ( I typically do 24 hr for veg)
The reasoning behind this is to do with heat problems, if I can go to cooler light during the heat of the day and hit them with the big stuff on the night I feel I could regulate my room temp easier without having to fire up the portable AC and fans, etc.
This is my first year growing so still learning, but I read all the time that even having one light on in the room (other than green of course) the plants will stay in veg or even revert to veg from flower.
I guess the main concern would be if the plants could handle the change of light spectrum.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Good question. Im in no way a pro grower but i think u can do it. I guess it will simulate a cloud in the sky and the light wont be as intense as when there are no clouds. Im not sure, but it makes the most sence to me.

My thinking is yes but I would be concerned that the big change in the intensity of light may trigger flower, not full blown but it may start... I could be wrong. Honestly if you just veg under fluro's that would be better and you still get the result you want with less heat. Plants veg beautifully under cfl's and when you put them under the hps later they will really grow a lot. You could veg them under the cfl's and then later when you want to flower veg them for one week at 18/6 under the hps and then switching to 12/12. Good luck.

Agree with above, you could veg your plants under CFLs and use your HPS to flower them. Although I would consider addressing the source of the problem - heat. Add more cooling to your grow environment?

Thanks for the quick feed back, much appreciated. My thoughts kind of went the way of the cloudy sky scenario.
Do you think the 20 plants would be happy with say just one of the 1K MH lights ( in sealed reflector) for 24/7 for veg. Going to top them a couple of times with this grow so I don't know if that makes any difference to amount of light needed during veg.

I have been trying to get an answer to this problem for ages i grow 12/12 from seed under a 400w hps but I have 2 daylighters that i can use so i was hoping when my lights go off on flowering i can put them under the daylighters and repeat each day thus keeping the ones i want in veg
