Mixed information for seedlings grow

Yes, I am getting mixed info and getting confused.

My 20 seeds germinated and I plant them in rockwool etc. Place them in the plastic grow box with transparent ventilated top. At this time I used 1 CFL 30W/6400K,1450Lm.

So far so good. They all came out all happy. In couple of days they stretched like crazy about 4" (10cm), but VERY thin and fragile (?) (maybe it's normal.

I panicked and transplan them into big pots and placed them in the grow room under MH600W/6400k light with reflector, thinking that they stretched of lack of good light. The light is about 32" away, temp 27c,60% humidity under 18/6.

Is that fine, or is the light to strong?

Some feedback I got so far was: the light are to strong use CFL for seedlings, or use fluorescent tubes, but I am reading in some posts that MH600W is just fine. I am confused.... and need some clarification PLZ..

What I did last night was - I placed light cotton fabric as a screen between the light and the plans.

TIA

They stretched too much early on. If you have 20 of them and only one light, most or all 20 of them couldnt get close enough to the light so they stretched for it. I dont use rockwool so I dunno but as a dirt farmer I could tell you that I would have replanted them deeper in the medium and get an even spread of light closer to them so they dont stretch like that. I use CFL's up close on babies like that but I hear you can use things like the 600MH and not burn them but just keep a good eye on them for a day or two. You want them as close to the light as you can get without burning them.

Use the following rule of thumb for light placement. Place your hand palm down at the height of your lights, if the back of your hand is uncomfortable then it is too hot for your plants. Here are some pics of my latest seedlings @ 21 days from sprouting, already topped and about 4-5 weeks from putting into flower. Happy Growing :weed:

I start my seedings under two 4' daylight tubes, 34 watts each. Going with anything less is not preferable. From the first set of adult leaves I put them into 12/12 under a 1kw hps. I never have any problems with seedlings using this style. There is no way your 600 watt MH is too much light at 32 inches. You've done the correct thing.

Thank you all. Really help me to know my babies will be fine. (it's the first grow ever) ;)
I just check on them now and they look good. Most of them have 4 leaves, still thin but fine.

Franky I am glad that I can use the MH600, they are already use to it and go with CFL or tubes apeare to me like going backwards.

Now, just keep them happy and wait.. :)

Get a little air movement on them too. That will strengthen the stems up for ya.

I did that as well.
Thank you all for your help!

Latest is, that ladies are doing just fine. I did get finally T5, but by the time I got them the ladies were doing great under MH600w. So I did little experiment. I place the 4xT5 (each 6500k and 1500lm) in the other room/space that I created. Lowered the fixture as close to them as I could (about 4"-10cm) and close the door. The 10xplants have 25c, 70% humidity, 18/6 and good ventilation-that's are B. In area A, I left 8 plants under MH600w, 18/6 (had them 3 days under 24h), 27c, 70% humidity and air circulating as well. As far I can tell they are doing fabulous. So far I can tell that plans under MH600w -18" away are doing better. They are stronger, wider/bushier and color is nice dark green. I water them all only twice since transplant using only 5ml of root for 10L of water. I check on them about 10x a day, I see nothing strange. Just nice color and getting stronger everyday (they starting to produce stronger aroma as well).
I am not sure if they have the right height for their age as I have never seen them grow before, but I will try to post some photos for you to have a look. From my stretchy, skinny, crazy seedlings to about two weeks later. Let me know what they look like to you considering the age and strain (SensiStar and Chronic).

Question: I am curious, how long should I keep them growing (approximately) 2 to 4 weeks or more? The idea is to move the plants from area B back to area A with the others tomorrow and let them grow ALL together. Before I switch them to flower cut 20 clones and place the clones in area B. That way I can create two different lighting regimes. Area A (flower) 12/12 and area B (clones) 18/6. No light is penetrating from and too area B.
