Mites: I think I finally killed them bastards.

I had two plants indoors. The one had a pretty bad mite infestation. Luckily it was close enough to harvest, that I just let it finish. They had just started on the small other one. So I moved it outside, and just cover it up. This may not be for some of you that don't smoke or are worried aboout cigarette smoke on your plants. Most of yours probably won't fit in a bag either. lol I took it and put it in a kitchen size trash bag(It's only about 2' tall). I bunched up the top of the bag, and left a small hole. Just big enough to blow through. Like you blow up a paper bag, when your going to pop it, I just kept blowing cigarette smoke in it, 'til it was all blown up. Then I tied it shut with a bread tie. Left it there for about a half an hour. I came back, untied it, and checked them out. I found quite a few mites, but they were dead. I didn't see any that were alive. I had a bag of soil at the beginning of summer, that ants had made a home out of. I did this same thing in that bad, and the next day, they were gone. I remembered that, and figured I'd give it a shot. Glad I did now.

interesting.
But I would do it again in 2 days and again in 7 days in case there are eggs. if they hatch you are back to square 1.

Seems like a cool little trick to use on plants that are close to finishing that you'd rather not hose down with Azamax; I have always heard tobacco juice is a very effective organic pesticide so this certainly seems plausible.

Yeah Southerner, I tried the spray, from soaking butts in water. It did seem to keep them under control. They came back though. I'm going to do it probably two more times, just to be sure. It does seem very affective though. Being close to finish was my problem. Everything was "Don't use during the last couple weeks".

I just went and checked the babies again. I didn't see any mites crawling around. I have 2 small clone that were sitting beside her out there. They were just starting to show signs of the mites. Just a few spots on the leaves. I just did this to them a few minutes ago, and smoked out the other one again. I'll keep y'all informed on the progress. Hopefully this can help someone else too.
