Miscellaneous Questions

Hey all,

First...So nice to be here!!! Seems like a cool group. I may even recognize some old names from other boards. Whatever.

Now...an explanation is owed! After some hydro activity a few years ago, I went into a quiet period for the past four or five years. I am, however, contemplating a triumphant return to the Great Game. If I do, it would be hydro. I'm just sick of buying shit and would like to treat myself in the manner in which I would like to become accustomed. I love great cannabis. So sue me.

Here's the thing, however. I have a short window to do a surgical strike grow...I would probably be germinating in early October. I am leaving the area on Xmas day, so I have to harvest by then. I would also be starting from seed at this point, not clone. In the past, I have had success flowering pretty quickly after roots showing on the young plant -working with a sea of green tray- so I'm not looking to do a huge vegetative grow period. All told, I would probably have 74 days for the whole shebang...start to finish. Bingo bango. Bobs your uncle.

All that in mind, here goes:

1. Feminized seeds...are they worth it? Let's say money is not an issue. Are some companey's fems better than others?

2. Seed companies flowering information...Am I right in thinking that flowering estimation is generally pretty optimistic? Is the real period for maturity generally longer than what's on the package/information?

2. I have a bunch of quality seeds from 5 or 6 years ago. They've been kept pretty well sealed in a bell jar. Should I take a chance on their continued viability or should I just order new seeds quickly?

3. Any recommendations that would fit the above time criteria. This is strictly for personal use so I'm not looking for industrial production. Instead, I'm looking for top shelf, preferably more trippy and "up." I'm not a couch lock, sedative kinda guy. Rather, a musician who likes to feed the Muse. At the same time, I realize I don't have time to grow out some of the more sativa strains. Currently thinking about Power Plant, Flo, Nebula, AK47, Shark Shock, Sensi Star...but am very interested in what others' thoughts may be.

I've been trying to look for some of this information in the Search thang but it's going to take a long time and time is of the essence. If I have to order seeds, I have to do so in the next day or two. I know that I'm asking for a lot of info that I'm looking for but it seems like this is the place to start.

1: some companys fems go hermie.

2: if you grow them in the right conditions then yes.

3: WOW you just tripped me out another #2? anyways if they germinate there good.

4: sativas usually tend to give you a more up high, but you can find some indacas with a good sativa high... any suggestions anybody?

a viable seed wont go hermie unless you shock the plant into going hermie ...
if you pull an indica while thr trichomes are mostly cloudy and less amber it will give you he trippy up high . you can read about that in one of subcool's posts here https://www.rollitup.org/subcools-old-school-organics/66405-amber-alert.html its a good read but will also allow you to take some days off your flowering since thats the high you are after anyways
as for fem. seeds . i would avoid them since im not into hermies .

one thing though, I ordered a pack of fruity juice (juicy fruit) I germ them and got 100% females, nice plant 50/50 indica/sativa
