Miracle Grow Shake 'n Feed

This is the shiz right here. You wouldn't need extra nutes but I did read in a hydroponics book that adding slow release granules to a hydro medium and also feeding with regular soluble nutes gave increased yields over soluble nutes alone. They mixed the granules in with the medium, rather than just near the top. They said that the roots will attach to the granules and extract nutes as needed. They can never release the nutes at too fast a rate due to the coating so there's no danger of over fertilizing. They last for 3 months so just about right to be used up by harvest time. I haven't actually tried it yet, just got some. I was surprised at how complete it is, micros too. Could probably make the soluble solution weaker than normal.

And have you began flower or finished a grow with this process?
No it's a new thing I'm going to try now. I hadn't seen continuous release fertilizer as complete as that before so I didn't bother. Before it was just 20-20-20. I just thought I'd post about it because it may not be widely known. I hadn't seen it before. You could probably even just use that alone in inert media. I'll be using it with perlite myself. Probably good with coco too.

Well, actually I'm making improvements in my system all the time so there would be no way to know if the results were from the ferts or other things. Others would be better suited to doing tests. I just wanted to suggest it, based on its ingredients. There's probably other brands of continuous release ferts around, some maybe better. This particular ones looks good though and may be easier to find than other brands. Miracle Grow products are widely distributed.

i tried that. controlled release (not time release) pellets in 100% perlite. all micro included. Not miracle grow either. Miracle grow from what I understand contains heavy metals and other undesirables which will be up taken and not metabolized by MJ.

too much N, buds didnt get big. finished 1 wk faster. Smoke was tasty after a long cure but does not burn and was slightly acrid. No one enjoyed it.

IME not recommended.

Okay but what was the brand you used? Maybe it was too high a concentration or you put too much in. It's also important that I suggested using both the granules and normal hydro nutes at the same time. Could also be that you grew some inferior quality plants or other growing conditions were bad. I'll check about MG products having toxins in them but it seems unlikely, considering they've been around a while. Not really a scam operation like Advanced Nutes. I guess it's possible though. Anyway thanks for the info. That's one negative report so far.

Dude.....keep the miracle grow for the flower garden. Id rather piss on my plants than use that shit....
Probably right. I already put some in with my perlite when I transplanted though so no turning back now. I only put 2 tbsp per container though, and that's about 1.5 gal. Should be okay.

I checked out the heavy metals thing. It's just the weed killing MG products that have arsenic in them. The rest passed the toughest environmentalist's standards. See for yourself. Miracle Grow was in the list of clean ones. It's for your own safety that you should use MG.

Don't use that stuff. Use the Nature's Care organic line if you're going to go with a MiracleGro product. It's meant for attracting the organic and cannabis markets. My first crop I planted in it, I got 3.8 ounces from a 5-6 week veg. Best bud I ever smoked, too.
I prefer the pure chemicals to the organic stuff. I read the ingredients of the Nature's Care and it's a lot of animal products. Animals build up a lot of crap in them. Bone meal for instance is full of fluoride and other toxins. Fish meal probably has mercury in it. Actually better off with the relatively pure chems.

..So this is a troll thread. Got it.
Yeah, it trolls people who will put any damn thing in their plants, animal parts, poop, you name it. But the important thing is that this Shake 'n Feed thing is going to save me plenty in hydro nute costs, because I can reduce it to a very weak concentration, like half the recommended amount.

here is the list of answers to your questions.

- Brand was Plant Prod (they even make MMJ based nutrients, a Canadian company
- followed directions and even kept on the light side. Dispersed through out the medium.
- Also used boosters, all feeds >20% run off
- plants not inferior quality but thanks for checking
- growing conditions where prime, all other plants in same condition w/o the used of the pellets provided A+ bud and >1/4 lb dry each
- comparing AN w/ MG is not even debatable IMO.

If other people are smoking your gear, you should be informing them prior that MG shake and feed was used.
