i'm gonna go with hydroguard, only because it seems to be a bit easier to dose.
i'm gonna be using jack's hydro nutrients soon, i got lots of stuff coming in the mail, 230 dollars worth lol. can't wait to get my system functioning correctly finally.
Right on. Hope it fixes your root issue.

I'm going to start adding recharge to my feeding routine in Coco. It has a nice diversity of beneficial micro organisms, including mycorrhiza and trichoderma.

here's a list of things i just bought to upgrade my grow. hopefully everything will work in my favor.
airflow control lever
hydroguard
airpump
airstone x4
ppm meter
cal nitrate 15.5-0-0
jacks hydroponic 5-12-26
1 gal mason jars x4
airline tubing
excited to get hands on with some new equipment finally. i'll try and stay updated.
i'm hoping to top my purple frosting plant by the end of this next week, just waiting for one more node to show, gonna top at the 3rd node i think.
P.S i've only grown once before, but they didnt get their smell nearly as fast as these guys did during veg. purple frosting smells sweet with an undertone of pepper that's a little overwhelming. my chocolate frosted sherb hasn't grown as much as my purple frosting, so they havent started smelling.. yet.

Don't forget the magnesium sulfate to go along with your Jack's. Also, there's a good video on YouTube by greengenesgarden on Jack's 3-2-1, I'll link it below...definitely worth watching, he goes into some depth.

I don't currently use Jack's, but I've used some of their products in the past, not the hydro though. I'm using Greenleaf Mega Crop right now, I like the simplicity of a one part dry nutrients, and I think it works very well.

i'm not sure if my plants are gonna make it by the time the stuff i need gets here. may have to start over again

That sucks, but it's a good learning experience. I've made just about every mistake possible, but I've learned from each of them and gotten better because of them.

well i knew that the root rot was gonna happen, i feel like i just wasted my time if they die. i'm just crossing my fingers that amazon will ship fast.

ok so - hydro guard is here, just dosed half a tsp/gal.
everything else will be here tomorrow.
my purple frosting plant is starting to recover fairly well from root rot, i found out that she's a female, and i also topped her today.
unnamed (5).jpg

she looks a bit messy, trust me though she will be very happy within a week.
unnamed (8).jpg
once i have more growth, i'm gonna trim off the not-main tops. i don't wanna stunt her gowth, to be sure that i won't im just gonna wait a while to do that.
now, i see purpling, i'm thinking this may be why.
this plant started going into flower, then i quickly took her out, the room she was staying in was relevantly cool, so the leaves changed purple a bit, the purple hasn't increased since i re vegged her, this leads me to believe that i may have a phenotype that's purple.
i could very well be wrong, and my ph could be off.
also, i took clones, hoping that they root themselves.

alright!
another update, i finally got my buckets, air pump and everything else in the mail and we're all set up. now all i'm waiting on are the nutrients which will arrive friday. man i'm excited.
gonna get back to my organized self with my journal. i guess i'll just hop right into it.

Purple Frosting #1
my one purple frosting plant i have left is doing amazing, root rot has fully come to a stop, the symptoms from it on my plant shown here hasn't spread one bit, the drooping has also come to an end. the roots are nice and almost pearly white now, as seen.
unnamed (11).jpgunnamed (10).jpg

Chocolate Frosted Sherb#1
the root rot on this plant has only increased, as here, she's extremely droopy still, & her roots don't look good, at all. i'm thinking about topping her within the week or so. waiting for 5 nodes, currently have 3, almost 4.

Purple Frosting#2
same situation as the chocolate frosted sherb, just way worse, no point in showing the roots, i know they look like hot garbage.

roots on my Purp frosting #1 are coming in hot and heavy
unnamed.jpg i think it's safe to say i'm 100% recovered from rootrot. my reservoir temps have been at a steady 66-69 degrees, i've also been using 2.5tsp/5gal of hydroguard which has helped lots. less then 4 more weeks and i'll be in flower!!

update - Dec 27
nutes -
Jacks 321 @ 3grams/5gal
Cal-nit @ 2grams/5gal
epsom salt @ 1gram/5gal
Hydroguard @ 2.5tsp/5gal
275 ppms
P.H @ 6.2, goes up to 7 after 12 hours. my ph meter is broken, but 6.2 is what it says, once i get a new one i'll have it at 5.8.
Temps in tent - 60-68F/40% humidity
Res temps - 60-68F
I got cloning supplies, i'll start trying to clone once i top again.
Purple Frosting - since last time, the tops have sprung out a bunch, i've been getting some really strong node structure, but things started to look a bit too messy so i decided to LST a bit. next time i switch out the res, i'm gonna have to up my cal-nit feed a bit, getting some cal def. the red stems aren't from lack of P, its just the pheno type. My roots are doing amazing, pics follow below.

purpfrostroots.jpg

CFS - this plant has become very very bushy, i havent been able to do much about it, just need to wait for the plant to stretch some before i lst. the roots have made an amazing recovery, i'm a little surprised, they were just slimy strings of rot yesterday it feels like. i've topped the plant in multiple places since, the plants looking pretty good i think.

cfsroots.jpg

Purple frosting #2 - i've also topped this plant in multiple spots since, manipulated branches a bit, i also snipped off the bottom branch, it wasn't able to keep up. roots have also started to recover more and more, overall we're looking pretty good.

prpfrostroots.jpg
for cloning, ive gotten clonex & rapid rooters, i'm gonna make my own humidity dome. i've also gotten a new ph meter with calibration packets so that i can get my ph back to 5.8 and not have to go to 6.2

weekly update! - Jan 3
hope you're all having a good day, i'm just gonna jump right into it.
i've recently upped my nutes on purp frost#1 to the following -
nutes -
Jacks 321 @ 4grams/5gal
Cal-nit @ 2.5grams/5gal
epsom salt @ 1.5gram/5gal
Hydroguard @ 2.5tsp/5gal
350 ppms
P.H @ 5.8, goes up to 6.62 in 24 hours, but gets brought right back down.
Temps in tent this week - 60-74F/40% humidity
Res temps - 60-74F

for the rest of the plants, they're still the same as last week, which if you're too lazy to scroll up it was
Jacks 321 @ 3grams/5gal
Cal-nit @ 2grams/5gal
epsom salt @ 1gram/5gal
Hydroguard @ 2.5tsp/5gal
275 ppms

enough about the nutes, now.
Purp frosting #1 - as i said before, she was upped in nutes and responded fairly well to it, i feel as if she could definetly be fed a little more, but i don't wanna push my boundaries. i topped her on her 4 main tops again, not the bottom tops, though, they weren't ready, so there's only 12 tops so far, we're looking for 16 which we'll be at by next week. then we just let the plants grow and, then finally flower after 3-4 weeks :) really excited. pics of roots, and plants follow!
purpfrostroots2.jpg
whole.jpg
i've never had a fanleaf this big, i thought it was cool.
fanleaf.jpg
last picture of her
whole2.jpg
CFS - so as i've said in my post before, i accidentally trimmed off one of my main nodes/tops, i don't think of it as a big deal, though, i'll strive though it. other than that, i did do a trimming on her, cutting off the bottom two nodes that were left on so i wouldn't stress the plant much. pic(s) follow
cfss.jpg
Purple frosting #2 - balls. that's all i have to say.
male.jpg
hope that if anyones reading this enjoyed the update, to my future self, don't trim while you're sober.
