Microgrowing - The Art of?

Alright so I know Microgrowing is hard, but I have recently started clearing out two of my PC's and I have so many questions...

First of all are there any people who are currently growing in a pc? Is there a decent place where I could find a list of supplies...because I see all different kind of bulbs everywhere...I understand that you use CFL bulbs but are they something that I can just pick up at home depot? I have no idea what I should be using...I have bought 6 books on the subject but nothing talks about growing on a small scale...I am in the states so there is a lot of risk involved.

Whats the best place to get seeds?? Should I be looking local or is there a safe place on the internet?

I have looked all over the internet and I havent really found anywhere that shows a good design of how to build a PC grow box...so I guess I am just going to be doing this myself.

So far what I have gathered is that I am going to be running into a problem with smell and light which are easily fixed by carbon filters and seals.

I am not looking to yield more than a half ounce to an ounce at a time...so I should probably look at having two right? Does it produce more over time??? Like, could you just not harvest the whole thing and do more flowering?


Anyways, I am a total noob and I am sorry if this is too much at once, I just feel like this is the best place for me to talk about it...I dont really want to talk to anyone I know in person...Thanks for the help ahead of time.

hey dude,

alright lotta question so this might be a long response lol.

ok to start off click the link in my signature. i grew in a pc case. read the journal. it will help out alot i think. anyways, as far as the case design

you want the intake to be low and the exhaust to be high. most people run cfl's in a pc case. some use hps but the temps just get to high most of the time. for veg you will want to get the daylight bulbs 6500k. the wattage you go with is up to you. i have a 125w daylight bulb in my case now. once you start to flower you will want to go with a 2700k soft white bulf, more like the fall sun. try lining hte inside of the case in mylar or panda film for max light absorption. you can get these bulbs anywhere, walmart, lowes, home depot.

SEEDS-
you can buy them online from attitude seedbank or anyother seed bank. many do it and seems to work out and is very safe. i would stick with an indica plant so it stays short. or try an autoflower like lowryder. smell will be an issue once flowering starts. look i the diy threads for a simple home made filter. theuyser name that made it is wolfman zen. looks simple and cheap to make. hope that helped a bit if not just write me back and ill answer any questions you have or at least try to.

Thanks man, I appreciate it...I am in an apartment so I am taking a risk...The smell is really what I am worried about..that and the electricity bill...what will it do to my bill to have a pc case going you think? im already paying like 180 a month in the summertime.
 
yo here are a few pics of my case. i have 4 intake fans. used to just be 2 intake and 2 exhaust til i cut a hole in the top and added another fan for exhaust. air movement is crucial in a pc grow. the reflective film helps to reflect light off walls or places that it would normally go to waste.

the case itself really isn't what makes your bill go up, its running the ac to keep the apt cool. i grew in an apt so i know bout your concerns. i would say it mad ethe bill go up 10 bucks or so? and run your lights during the coolest part of the day or night. i had it to where my lights were off during the middle of the day and would turn on round 7 at night and turn off round 11 the next morning.
 
How long does the total process take? And How much do you yield??? I dont mind taking longer if it will yield more, but just wondering if its any faster in a pc case since the plants are smaller...and if there is a flexible time period at which to harvest...im reading up on this also by the way...have a ton of books on it, just trying to get a feel for how you have done

well with the plants i grew which were auto flower, they go from seedling straight to flowering with maybe a week or 2 of veg. they grow their whole cycle with no matter what light schedule you use so no 12/12 to induce flowering. the whole process took me 2 months give or take a few days. i got a quarter per plant. lowryder#1 isn't a very big yielding plant so i wan't expecting much. once you know what a "ready" plant looks like you can make the call yourself. but as far as speed autos are the fastest. just do some research on strains.
