MH to HPS Conversion Bulbs

Want to know the effectiveness of the HPS bulbs that run in MH ballasts. Does anyone know if the HPS conversion bulbs work as well for flowering as Standerd HPS's In HPS Ballasts?

I got my switchable MH/HPS through HTG SUpply on ebay. It came with both lights, and I had a great result with the switch. They did offer a different HPS upgrade bulbs, but for my 6x6 room the light that came with it had plenty of lumens and my yield did not suffer, in fact it was the biggest yield for me to date. I have done grows under flouro CFL, straight MH, and now the switchable MH/HPS. The latter being my best result!! Some say that if u stick with MH through the whole grow u will get denser buds. But I feel that has to do more with your strain, how u fert/nute your plants. I go Strictly BMO(ebay) for all organic fert/nutes. Much tastier and smoother buds by far. I have used advanced, foxfarm and BC, but had way more success with 100% organic Blue Mountain Organics. My buds were whitewidow, G13, tiny bomb, light of Jah, and a combo skunkx haze. I 've done side by side grows comparing yield, taste, quantity and ease of application and have found that organic for me has been THE WAY TO GO. Fox farm is not 100 percent organic and can easily cause nute burn, although I've had a good grow with their products. Taste was sacraficed compared to 100% organic. I would stay with switchable and make sure your reflector covers your entire grow area. If u want bigger yields, try scrogging your pups or fim, supercropp or ol fashioned topping. Scrogg has given me great results and massive buds, potent buds. Ebay super plant tonic and you will find BMO, and die with the prices.. Super cheap, but they are producing the best 100% ORGANIC TEA CONCENTRATES, and they are awesome in explaining any questions and their customer service is second to none!!!! If your worrid that u have a cheap conversion bulb, go to HTG supply (ebay) and upgrade. Measure your grow space and see what suits you the best! Good luck and holla if you have any questions.. Plants typically need 3000 lumens per sq. feet to do their best, i currently get around 6000 lumens per square feet and my plants love it!!! Take care, and hope this helps

appreciate ya input. This is my first real grow and im going with Ocean Forrest soil, grow big nutes probally 2 to 3 weeks into vegging, then for flowering going with the tiger bloom. So many people swear by fox farm so it seems like the safest bet for me. Ive done a CFL 12/12 from seedling grow so i understand some of the basics as far as over nutings concerned. In future grows i will definately be considering the nutes you recomended. Do you have any pics of your grows with the stuff you use now?

yeah kick ass! Your grow will go great. I still use Ocean Forest 20% in my soil mix. I love the stuff and a local store sells it cheap Tiger Bloom kicks ass as, great weight gainer. Try UVB bulbs through your grow. They are ultra violet and as a defence mechanism the plants( including leaves...hash) get shite loads of resin. They do this to make sure their able to catch the male plants pollen. Keep the males away, and make killer hash! It works, trust me! Anyways, good luck and +rep for being one of the nicer ones on this forum!!!

Great info, thanks! I was reading about the UV lights to help with resin production, but am a not familiar how to set up. Do you run them in conjunction with the normal lights?

ya for sure. I run them even while i run my main lights. Sometimes if i'm going to be in the grow room for awhile. i turn them off since they are not to healthy for us, but other than that i rum them through the first 2-3 weeks of flowering. Depending on strain and looks of plants at that time. They do work and i love making hash and of course having loaded down buds!!! Holla if u have any other questions..
