I'd like to get one too, but then I'd have to get a 600 watt system. So I'm just going to get a 600 watt mh with a cool tube. Then run the 400 watt hps cool tube I have now at the same time the 600 watt the whole way through. I'm gonna have to do some crazy vent setup to have 2 cool tubes in my 4x4 tent. :)

Blue spectrum promotes growth and maturity in nature, while on the other hand red spectrum promotes reproduction and breeding. If you can veg with M/H and flower with HPS. Anything else is only putting undo stress on ur plants naturally.MH will also make ur plants stretch during veg and just recently when i introduced my MH to the flower room cuz it was just laying around, i ended up with 3 hermies on a batch that otherwise never produced seed.

HPS by far for flowering. IF u want seedles fat, juicy nuggies anyway.late

I've noticed more crystals on my bud under a metal halide but the buds were smaller. I use HPS because the size advanage over an MH makes up for any possible small increase in quality.

That is EXACTLY what i've heard.

MH in flower = more thc on bud
HPS = Slightly less Thc, but more yield, bigger cola

Ballast are set for the HPS, and conversion MH bulb.

I have the option to go with MH, but i'll see how this grow turns out then decide if I want to include it in.

Dual Spec lights are the best to get though because they provide the best of both worlds.

The Son Agro bulb has 400watts HPS and 30wattsMH
So you still get some of the spectrum you need/aren't getting

I recently read an article in IC mag that concluded after doing multiple side by side grows that using hps only from start to finish produced bigger buds, bigger plants and higher yields than using MH during grow, HPS during bloom. They also stated that even when they used the MH and HPS simultaneously the plants more directly under the HPS bulbs produced much bigger, higher yielding plants and a really uneven canopy.

So, that is what I am doing wit my current grow. HPS only from start to finish. But I would never use HID bulbs with young clones/seedlings though, T5 HO are best for them IMO.

T5s are great for grow but they suck for flowering. Flowering=HID
