What kind of meter do I need? I want to be able to measure my nutrients and ph? I'm new to this so I'm not sure what i'm looking for. Thanks in advance.

You can get combined pH and EC (nut) meters, but it's cheaper to just get one if you can do without the other. It also means if you break one, you only need to throw one. If you don't have much $ spare, here's a post a made in another thread just recently;
If you do decide to mess with pH or EC, I'd recommend going for pH first. Burn is quite easy to avoid with a measuring jug. As soon as the jagged tips of the leaves show that yellowing / fading, dilute the solution 10% or 20%. Never push it with the concentrate and measuring it out, what it says on the pack is the max you should go for. If anything, use a few % or so less. Burn shouldn't be a problem if you're conservative with the nutrient, and being a few percent below the max it says on the pack is unlikely to do anything you can even see to the yield / growth rate. pH is harder to do by eye but plays a big role in nutrient availability.

I DONT KNOW CHAMP i USE DIFFERENT PENS FOR EACH TASK...THAT WAY I CAN CALIBRATE ALL THE TIME !!! - NOT SURE HOW YOU WOULD CALIBRATE AN ALL IN ONE UNIT ??

The combined or Tri meter's work well if as all meters you keep them calibrated. They all normally have different types of sensors in the same tip to read each type of settings. I like using a standard TDS or EC meter that measure PPM (parts per million) of dissolved solids for how much nutrients are present in your mixture. I use a separate meter for measuring PH as these are more sensitive to getting dried out and then can read incorrectly. If your hydro you should have something ASAP to read how much your feeding of nutrients and what the PH is.

I like them seperate. Check amazon.com for a com-100 meter for $55, and look for a Hannah pH meter on ebay for about 30.
