Metal Halide - a choice of bulbs

I have three options of 400watt MH bulbs. I have both a vertical and horizonal fixed hood, thus position isnt too important. Do you think the bulb with a higher color temperature is better than the bulb with a higher lumen output? Or do you think opposite? Please compare the bulbs below and let me know which you would prefer and why.

Philips
4300K
32,000 Init Lumens
22,000 Mean Lumens
Condition: Used - how long?
Position: Universal
Pros: Highest color temperature
Cons: Lowest lumen output of the three, Used

GE
4000K
41,000 Init Lumens
31,000 Mean Lumens
Condition: New
Position: Vertical base up only
Pros: Highest Lumens of the three bulbs, New
Cons: Philips has higher color temp, vertical base up only

Sylvania
4000K
36,000 Init Lumens
23,500 Mean Lumens
Condition: New
Position: Universal
Pros: Universal, New
Cons: Philips has higher color temperature

stay with a new one unless th eused is like 25% of the new cost 30 bucks or less

This is what i was afraid of...i always though vegging plants prefer 6000k. Can you provide a quote for this claim? I have to agree but havent read anything that supports the matter. HPS bulbs will be used for flower. These bulbs will all be used for veg.

Do you think the 4300k bulb (32,000/22,000Lumens) is better than the 4000K bulb (36,000/23,500) bulb? First is Philips (used) second is Sylvania (new). Basically, when comparing the two bulbs is color temperature or lumen output more important?

Would you rather have +300K color temp or +1500 mean/4000 initial lumens?

Maybe this is why i notice cfls give me such a tight node spacing...my mh bulbs arent hot enough in color temps...

Ya get the new bulb at the bottom better to be new then used espically if you dont know how long......If its used you might not be even getting what the specs say so at least with the new one you know what you getting......and diff dont get the vertical only bulb....

I buy my MH bulbs at the hardware store as I've never seen a difference between those that cost $24 and those $80 ones at the hydro store. So I'd say don't buy used but buy the cheapest.

did you compare the specs of each bulb online? comparing color temp and lumen output?

you need 6000k for veg its all over and common knowlage amongst growers some use lower but if you are a mh veg and a hps flower then its 6000k veg and 3500k flower or somewere there abouts the diff betwwen 4kk 4,3kk is nothing ide look for something arleast over 5300k and 35000lumens i run 1000w so i dont have a clue what is out there for your set up but ebay has a ton.

You dont need 6000k ,, the 4000k will work just fine ,
and you can use the MH for the whole grow if you want
