Bowing to federal pressure, Mendocino County will no longer issue permits to medical marijuana growers. The County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to end the popular permit program, which was the first of its kind in the nation. The vote also makes it illegal to cultivate more than 25 plants, reducing the amount from the previous limit of 99 plants. The county will not continue to issue permits, but will not prevent growers with existing permits -- who are operating under state law -- to continue growing a plot of 25 plants or less.
Dozens of medical marijuana growers who packed a conference room in Ukiah today expressed passionate support for the permitting program. One speaker who identified himself as Nick said the decision to stop regulating marijuana cultivation would be a boon for illegal growers.
"With no inspectors, no sheriffs, nothing like that present, it’s just going to bring back an era of lawlessness that we had before."

In all honesty things were getting out of hand in Mendocino. When u can get on Google Maps and look at the county from above and see fields on top of fields that just shows u ppl are being care less! Im sad to see that it is now illegal to grow there but i hate to say it, they brought it on themselves. I feel bad for the ones who will need the medicine in the future and because of the greedy money hungry commercial growers they wont be able to grow!

What is wrong with making a profit? If nobody makes a profit, then commerce stops and the world plunges into the dark ages again.
 
Im not hating on making a profit! Im all about spreading this plant to everybody who wants it! You just have to realize not everyone likes Cannabis. People were treating the plant out there like Corn and growing it by the Acres and shipping it out east! Most Farmers/Cultivaters were not being smart with it, Not All but most. When Tax payers move out of the state cuz their county is being over ran by ppl cultivating a plant that is still illegal in Federal Law, The Gov will step in and fix that! Uncle Sam cares only about money and he is smart enough to know that he is losing money in Mendo.
 
Sucks for those who don't have a card yet.. Oh poor guys.. can't have 99 outdoor plants anymore.. so instead of that 120 lbs next year they will have todo with 20. Cry me a river. >.<
